Cyberpunk 2077 lets you experience tales of glory and fame as you gain street cred through Night City. However, a life dedicated to crime also has its low points, and you get to see some of the most impactful stories that show the darkest side of the city's underworld.

The Hunt starts with a break-in with River, who asks you to help him get inside an NCPD lab for clues about his nephew's kidnapping. This will lead you to a huge, deeply disturbing case of multiple abductions, and here's everything you need to know about it.

NCPD Lab Break-in

This quest begins sometime after finishing the I Fought The Law side job, and River Ward will contact you and ask for your assistance with a new case, so you must meet him near the NCPD offices. Once you meet him in his truck, he will show you a video of a serial kidnapper codenamed "Peter Pan" being apprehended, and then tell you that the victim found in his car was wearing a pair of shoes that belonged to Randy, his missing nephew.

With that in mind, you will head to the NCPD Laboratory and break in to analyze the dreams of Anthony Harris (Peter Pan's real name) in a braindance player, and shortly after, you will be confronted by Yawen, an old acquaintance of River who will begrudgingly help you. The main problem is that Harris hasn't been dreaming in the last few days, so you need to find a way to compel him to dream.

To do that, you must go to Randy's trailer and try to find clues that give you some insight into who Anthony Harris really is.

Randy’s Trailer And Laptop

Head inside Randy's trailer, and the first major task here is to find clues by using your scanner. You don’t have to find everything to move on to the next point in the quest, so here’s what you should do:

• Get Randy's Key from the kitchen and open Randy’s bedside drawer.
• Find the laptop under the bed.

From that point, you can either pass an Intelligence check or find the password to access the laptop. You will quickly find the password if you turn on the record player outside the bedroom, as it'll unlock the dialogue option with the song's name, Liberatum Arbitrium.

With the computer unlocked, you have to check for new clues. To successfully find all the information you need, follow the next steps:

• First, read all entries in Emails and Files.
• Visit the Net and click on the weird image to the left to open the hidden website.
• Go to the Files section, where you'll see a filename that sounds familiar.
• Head back to the computer’s Files section and look at the ATT_CART_VIDEO file to realize that it matches the filename on the website.

As an optional objective, River will suggest you get the website owner’s IP address, and once again you will have to pass an Intelligence check, but it's not strictly necessary. Once you're done, River will send all the info to Yawen, and you must wait until the next morning.

The Hunt Braindances

As the morning comes, River will wake you up; Harris finally dreamt, and you must check three braindance scenes to find the final clues.

If you get to find every possible clue during these braindance scenes, you will be able to automatically identify the farm; otherwise, it'll be a dialogue choice between two options.

Here are the critical points that you need to observe during these to nail down the location of the farm:

School Cafeteria Braindance

Childhood Barn Braindance

Adult Barn Braindance

Incorrectly guessing Randy's location will lead to another farm filled with enemies, resulting in you and River arriving too late to save his nephew, and locking you out of any kind of romance with River.

Rescuing Randy

Whether you found out automatically or guessed, the correct answer is 'Edgewood Farm', and after a short trip with River, you will arrive at the place, surrounded by fences and armed to the teeth. You can enter the house to the right by hacking and deactivating the code panel, and then you must turn off the switch under the desk on the second floor to reveal a hidden room with another computer that you can use to turn off the turrets and mines.

You should always turn the defenses off, or River will likely get killed by them.

Once that's taken care of, approach the barn and scale the ladder on its left side, dropping down through the roof. From there, turn off the main computer and rescue the victims.

After an emotional scene, River departs with the Trauma Team to see his nephew nursed back to health, effectively ending the quest. However, this is not the last time you'll see River Ward.
