Before getting into things, the most important tip for would-be Cyberpunk 2077 players is to not play the game on consoles without patching it. That is to say, if they plan on picking up the game and playing it from the disc version, that is a bad idea for many reasons. One, so much has been done to the game since the discs were printed.

Two, most importantly, if one starts the game with an unpatched version, then decides to patch the game afterward, this could create a well-known game-breaking bug in an early story mission called Love Like Fire. With that important PSA out of the way, let's get to some general tips.

10 Setup Doesn’t Matter Much

It might be stressful to pick which opening route to take between Streetkid, Corpo, and Nomad. While each set does have unique dialogue that will unlock in the game along with perhaps a mission or two late in the game, they don’t amount to much. Plus these prologues are only about fifteen minutes long at max. All paths lead to Night City so don’t stress too much over it.

9 Waiting To Do Side Quests: The Second Prologue

After the game starts with Jackie and V taking on the mission to rescue Sandra, it might be tempting to explore the city and do some side quests. While side quests help get players experience and money, they should be saved until after this second prologue. Stick to the main missions which should only take about three hours. Avoiding spoilers, there is someone that joins the team after The Heist that will enhance even the smallest side quests with extra dialogue.

8 Save Often, Branch Out

As good as the reviews are on PC, the console versions are not getting as high of praise. This is due in large part to the glitches in the game.

From the game hard crashing to quests just not completing, one never knows what glitch will rear its ugly head. So, save often and save on multiple decks. Always have an out to restart in other words.

7 Everything Levels Up

Similar to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, everything levels up in this game. Using handguns will levels up that skill base while running around on foot will also increase another skill set. There is an overall level along with mini levels for each category in other words. To get better skills unlocked to dump points into, that skill then needs to be used a lot. Just be aware of this.

6 Save Those Points Until Needed

It’s also worth mentioning that skill points should not be used every time players level up. One never knows what a certain situation will call for so it might be handy to be able to level up on the fly in order to gain access to new pathways. Let it be known though that the game supports all types of play so while one way may seem the most obvious, there are always others like the front door shoot ‘em up approach. That’s what makes the game so approachable.

5 Ignore Shops, Loot Instead

There is really no need for shops unless one wants to sell gear. That’s because bodies will always have an abundance of gear on them. Sometimes it might be a while until one finds a good piece of armor, or weapon to upgrade into, but it’s better than wasting money on buying minimal upgrades. Crafting is also not that crucial in the early parts of the game.

4 Must Have Weapons

On the subject of weapons, there are three necessary tools one should always carry on their person. First of all, some side missions require the player to knock out an enemy with non-lethal means. Fists will do but they are weak so keep a blunt weapon on hand just in case.

Shotguns are incredibly fun to use and are overpowered in the game, which take care of most enemies. Finally, in order to take down big mechs or other machines, Light Machine guns should be carried. These don’t have to be main weapons, but they should be in one’s arsenal.

3 Don’t Forget To Call Contacts

V’s cellphone is more than just a way to text clients about missions. They are also a way to get to know these characters. One can even call them up and chat while driving. If one gets tired of the radio station, this would be a good way to kill two birds with one stone by learning something new about characters and to go driving without feeling bored. That’s a secret hot tip time saver for the game.

2 Waypoints On Waypoints

When selecting a main, or side mission, like any open-world game, it creates a waypoint. It’s good to know that waypoints can also have diversions just like a GPS in real life. Right now it appears to only work for one diversion at a time, but it is still useful nonetheless. It makes it easier to make a pitstop instead of heaving to remake a waypoint after every trip.

1 Complicated Set Of Systems, But Easy Is The Way Out

The marketing may seem like Cyberpunk 2077 is a complicated game of systems upon systems and it is. However, don’t let the trailers and news make one afraid to check this game out. The Easy difficulty makes it so that these systems don’t punish the player that much if they don’t get them. So, if one wants to explore a futuristic Grand Theft Auto shooter then let it be known that it is open to all types of players.
