Cyberpunk 2077 will have three “lifepaths” that will add replayability to the single-player role-playing game.

Something that every game wants is replayability. For online multiplayer games, replayability is easily accomplished by people. If it's a competitive shooter, then every match is different since they contain different people. You might have different classes or weapons to add more variety, and maps will also get changed up to keep things fresh.

Things are a little trickier when it comes to single-player games. The campaign is usually a set series of events and while there can be some variability (especially in the case of multiple endings) it can be hard to get the player to go through the same game over and over again.

To keep Cyberpunk 2077 from going stale and to give the player an interesting second playthrough, CD Projekt Red is introducing three distinct “lifepaths” to character creation that will drastically change the way you can interact with other characters.

In a new video posted to their social media channels, CD Projekt Red’s quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz talked about these lifepaths and how they’ll change the single-player experience.

"We have a big variety of different skills that the players can modify as they develop their character throughout the game,” says Tomaszkiewicz. “And in turn, they can use these skills to discover different paths through the levels, to discover different options in quests.”

"On top of that, we also have this thing called the 'lifepaths,' which are the origins of our character that we choose at the beginning of the game when we create the character. So for example, you might imagine that if you're a street kid you'll have an easier time talking to different gangs, or if you're a corporate, you might have an advantage over people from the corporations, since you know how they think and how they operate."

You’ll have three lifepaths to choose from: Street Kid, Corpo, and Nomad. We’re told by Tomaszkiewicz how the first two will work, but Nomad seems a bit more nebulous. We’ll have to wait for more from the developer on that one.

Or we can just wait for the game to release. Cyberpunk 2077 arrives on April 16, 2020.
