Netflix has officially announced the release date of its highly-anticipated Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, which is set to air on the service on September 13 next month.

Netflix announced the release date via a new post from the official Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Twitter account, along with a brand new trailer that is full of explosions, gore, and pretty much everything else that you probably shouldn't be looking at on a work computer. The series will include 10 episodes, all of which will drop at once making it perfect for your next all-day binge watch.

If this is the first you're hearing of a Cyberpunk 2077 anime, Edgerunners is being made by Studio Trigger, the same team behind popular anime series such as Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia. The screenplay is based on a sotry written by CD Projket Red itself and will even feature music by Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners follows a young man called David Martinez who decides to become a mercenary - also known as Edgerunners/Cyberpunks - after a personal tragedy. Just like most of Studio Trigger's previous work, the show features a striking visual style and definitely isn't one to watch if you're squeamish.

As for what's happening on the gaming front, CD Projekt Red recently teased a potential announcement for its long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 expansion that's been promised ever since launch. Replying to CD Projekt Red's senior level designer Miles Tost on Twitter, the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account says "Wann Cyberpunk-Expansion?" which loosly translates to "When is the Cyberpunk expansion. Not much to go on, admittedly, but it's a sign that CD Projekt could be gearing up for an announcement soon.

If you're wondering what the expansion is about, a bunch of lines of dialogue seemed to have leaked earlier this year, detailing key plot points during the expansion and how many main missions there will be.
