Bandai Namco dropped a new The Dark Pictures: House Of Ashes trailer during Summer Game Fest with a release date announcement. Another chapter of Supermassive Games horror anthology is coming on October 22.

The new trailer shed some light on the game’s opening, revealing players will experience some military action alongside further likeness to Indiana Jones and The Mummy. House Of Ashes’s story revolves around a group of soldiers in Iraq in 2003, who ended up in a deserted crypt in the shadow of the Zagros mountains after the military operation failure. Brothers in arms now have to overcome unforeseen challenges, as a blood-hungry ancient underworld demon known as Pazuzu begins eliminating them one by one. As usual, the survival of characters will depend upon the choices you make throughout the game.

It seems that, unlike previous entries Man of Medan and Little Hope, House Of Ashes will completely set foot on supernatural territory, presenting a new breed of an ancient evil. Pazuzu is known as the king of the wind demons in Mesopotamian religion. It is still largely unknown if the story will have a widespread twist revealing no such monster actually existed, or if the creators decided to go all the way into the mystery. There were words about the new “chemical weapon” hidden underground, so at this point everything is possible.

Those fascinated by demonic creatures may get the collector’s House Of Ashes: Pazuzu Edition, featuring a 10 cm creature figurine, as well as other traditional goodies like art print, Eclipse pin, set of stickers, and a special massive box. The full game is also included.

House Of Ashes was announced right after The Dark Pictures: Little Hope came out back in October 2021. Right when the first chapter Man of Medan was introduced, the developers at Supermassive Games said they had ideas for at least eight different stories for the fans of blood-run-cold gameplay. With House Of Ashes being only the third chapter, we can expect another announcement for the next entry at the end of 2021.

The Dark Pictures: House Of Ashes is expected to launch on October 22 across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
