Strategy

The boss approaching the player.

For the first phase of the fight, you will be facing Champion's Gravetender, who is an NPC-type enemy, along with three normal wolves. Your first focus should be on dealing with the annoying wolves. Two to three attacks will take all of them down and allow you to face the boss one on one. Using a shield is not effective against the Champion, as most of his attacks can break through your shield and leave you with little to no stamina.

Try to stay aggressive throughout the fight with the Champion.

You can get several hits every time you perform a successful dodge. Once he loses more than 50% health, he will summon the Greatwolf. This is a giant wolf who moves swiftly and deals heavy damage. It has head rush and rush attacks that allows it to get close to the player and also deal damage to them. When the Greatwolf appears, the Champion can switch to Mage moveset and casts spells from afar. It is important to deal with the Champion first because dealing with both of them can be difficult and result in your death. You can make use of the pillar in the middle to split the two bosses and deal with one. However, be careful as the Greatwolf has an ice-breath attack that can deal damage even if you are behind the pillar.

Pyromancy is extremely useful for this fight. This is because both the Champion and Greatwolf have less resistance to fire. Chaos Bed Vestige should be your bread and butter for this fight because of its high damage output and quick cast. You can equip rings to boost fire damage to make the fight much easier. If you make use of pyromancy, the first phase should be over quickly. The Greatwolf's rush attacks are deadly for ranged casters. Try to be careful with your casts. Do not greed for extra casts, as the boss can rush towards you multiple times and take out a chunk of your health.

For the Sorcerer build, the optimal spells to use are Soul Greatsword, Great Soul Dregs, and Crystal Soul Spear. As the fight starts, try to lure out the three wolves and cast Soul Greatsword on them. A few casts will kill all of them at once. After that, for Gravetender Champion, it is best to spam Great Soul Dregs. These have great homing abilities allowing you to deal serious damage to him. For the Greatwolf, you will not be able to use Great Soul Dregs much as it is not a quick projectile spell. Crystal Soul Spear is perfect for dealing decent damage to the wolf and whittling down its health bar.
