Dark Souls is full of interesting bosses with rich lore, whether it's Slave Knight Gael and his uphill battle to create a new world of tranquillity or the Soul of Cinder and their amalgamation of heroes past, and one fan has brought them to life as Magic: The Gathering cards, adding a whole new layer.

There's the aforementioned Soul of Cinder, Aldrich, an Abyss Watcher, The Painter, Slave Knight Gael, Gael, the Red Hood, and Gael, Humanity's End. There are three versions of the same character because he goes through several stages in-game, turning from a meek knight in service to The Painter to a hulking brute to a beast who has consumed the Dark Soul. This is reflected in the three MTG cards.

There are some balancing issues such as Aldrich having unblockable for one, and the Abyss Watcher would only allow for you to make one copy as you can only pay kicker costs once. To do what it's setting out to do, the card would need Multikicker, but having a cost of one generic then makes it absurdly cheap. Soul of Cinder is also very reminiscent of MTG's mutate mechanic, while The Painter wouldn't entirely work—counters go on her, but they'd have to go on you as the player to win. Regardless, you can see the collection below.

As one commenter pointed out, Hidetaka Miyazaki is even an MTG fan, so "he would surely like these." Turbulent-Echo8561 wrote, "I think a Magic: The Gathering deck was spotted in his office on a visit to FromSoftware a few years ago. There are some pictures of it."

Maybe we'll see Dark Souls and MTG team up officially someday, but for now, you can enjoy this glimpse into a what-if? world where just that has happened. However, the art in the cards was found "on the internet," so the actual designs aren't original and it's unclear where you can find them or who deserves their credit.
