The Dark Souls series has always provided players with a wide range of cosmetics to make the most rad character possible and show them off during a tense PVP match, but they're often seen using the same boring-looking top-tier weapons.

We're here to argue that if your weapon doesn't abide by the true "Fashion Souls" creed, it's possible that you're missing the whole point. Dark Souls has an absolute ton of weapons, 3 specifically, and they range from "dinky metal stick" to "glowing, gargantuan blade of immense and ridiculous power," so we'll be guiding you through some of the lamest and coolest ones available.

10 Lamest: Club

Yes, it's beyond hilarious to best your enemy with a literal hunk of wood while they're wielding some ancient, forbidden holy weapon. But that doesn't make the Club any less lame than it is. For some reason, Dark Souls 3 has four different Club variants to choose from.

Clubs and Great Clubs have been around since Demon's Souls, and serve as a crude version of a hammer/great hammer. They're actually pretty decent weapons sometimes, but give absolutely no bonus points in the fashion category, making them the lamest weapons in the game.

9 Coolest: Splitleaf Greatsword

We're kicking off the good stuff with a strong entry. The Splitleaf Greatsword isn't actually a greatsword at all, as it's classified as a Halberd and would actually be something along the line of a naginata.

Classifications aside, its design is influenced by that of a leaf, as its name implies, and it looks pretty different from all of the other halberds. Also, who wouldn't want to be a living helicopter while using its Weapon Art, Wind Wheel?

8 Lamest: Caestus

Bringing fists to a sword fight takes an admirable degree of audacity, but the Caestus could at least make it look that much cooler. Instead, they're barely noticeable during a fight, so the opponent might not even know if you've got a weapon equipped.

Compare this to the Demon's Fist, which makes it look like you've strapped a part of a demon to your fist, and the Caestus is nothing more than boring. Claws are put in the same category, but it's a shame that the Demon's Fist is the only interesting-looking fist weapon.

7 Coolest: Irithyll Straight Sword

How do you improve upon the Long Sword? Well, there are quite a few ways to go about it, but covering it in eternal snow and liquid nitrogen is certainly one way to do so. Looking at all the "normal" shaped swords, this is definitely the most unique one.

It's also one of the few weapons to have constant particle effects flying out of it, which makes it fun to look at even when not in combat. The Irithyll Straight Sword perfectly blurs the line between being basic and stylish, while also setting itself apart from every other weapon with its effects.

6 Lamest: Broken Straight Sword

The Broken Straight Sword was never meant to be anything more than a throw-away weapon that does a little more damage than your fists, if we're being forthright and honest with this pick.

While it may not have much going for it in terms of style, it at least can pair well with a character motif that's meant to look like a broken warrior, so it does have some usage in the vein of Dark Souls cosplaying. However, its borderline uselessness absolutely tanks its viability in general.

5 Coolest: Dancer's Enchanted Swords

Wielding two swords at once has always instantly boosted coolness levels exponentially, but what if one was on fire and the other was emitting dark energy? The Dancer's Enchanted Swords not only look rad, but their flashy moveset amplifies their style even further.

Boss weapons in Dark Souls tend to have the advantage over normal weapons when it comes to style points, and the Dancer's Enchanted Swords are one of the best examples. Or two, if you'd like to get technical.

4 Lamest: Long Sword

This is the starting weapon for the Knight class, and it's the definition of "basic" for a fully functional sword. It doesn't have a fancy name, differing colors, or a bunch of things sticking out of it. It's simply a longsword, and that's all it needs to be.

Not to say that this weapon looks bad, it just isn't interesting at all when compared to most other weapons in the game. Even the Short Sword has a different colored handle, while this is a monochromatic, slender stick of metal, though an effective one to be sure.

3 Coolest: Dragonslayer Swordspear

Sword? Check. Spear? Check. Magical dragon lightning? Check. This sword/spear hybrid weapon is wielded by the Nameless King, which is already one of the coolest looking boss fights in the game.

While the weapon looks rad by itself, the fact that it can summon bolts of lightning from the heavens immediately makes it one of the most badass weapons in the game.

2 Lamest: Battle Axe

This is the starting weapon for the Warrior class, and it's definitely one of the better-looking weapons to start with. Compared to the Hand Axe or Thrall Axe, the Battle Axe has enough variation to make it stand out, but not by much.

The Battle Axe lies right in the middle of the weapon designs in Dark Souls 3, having enough quality to not be able to call it completely boring, but nothing to give it its own personality. As such, it falls just short of the mark for this list.

1 Coolest: Onyx Blade

Dark Souls has always been a series that allows players to wield comically large and oddly-shaped weapons, and the Onyx Blade takes this premise and jacks it up to maximum coolness with glowing black and white flames.

It's one of the coolest weapons in the franchise all by itself, but Elfriede's Blackflame makes it intimidatingly beautiful, helping it to evoke a sense of power that few other weapons can contend with.
