But by night, you attend the hottest seafood joint on the harbor, where mini-games and business management shape the future of your career.

In order to lay the foundations for an award-winning sushi restaurant, you will of course need to understand how the sushi business operates. However, to get your flipper on the ladder and make haste for the pinnacle of the food chain, you will need to take these essential tips into account before beginning your journey.

Don't Dive Too Deep

When it comes to diving in a bottomless Blue Hole, it's normal to feel like you want to keep going deeper and find new life forms. Although, this can be quite dangerous during the early game since a ton of limitations are placed to stop you. Firstly, you can only reach a certain depth based on the level of your gear.

If you try to go below this depth, the meter on the bottom-left side of your screen will turn red and you'll start losing oxygen much faster. If you somehow manage to get a ton of oxygen supply and stay alive in the deep, you'll also face creatures that have a lot of health and can't be easily defeated with your beginner gear.

You can still defeat these creatures by constantly harpooning them, but it won't be worth the amount of time taken.

Hence, it's recommended to stay in shallow waters when you're just starting out. You'll eventually be able to go deeper as you progress in the main quest and upgrade your gear and weapons. Another thing to note here is that you won't always get to restart your run if your oxygen runs out underwater.

The first time it happens, the game will allow you to restart and keep all your items. Although, you'll only be able to take one item from your run and instantly go back to the surface if it happens again. Running out of oxygen during a boss fight lets you restart it as many times as you want to.

Take A Note Of Your Top Sellers

Dave The Diver Bancho Suishi stats screen

At the end of each shift at Bancho Sushi, you will be presented with a stats screen. Here, you will be able to see which dish was your overall Top Seller, as well as the amount of gold that this particular dish raked in. You will want to take note of this figure, and then decide whether it's worth hunting the same fish the next day to boost your profits.

Chances are, you may have found a hidden cash cow down in the Blue Hole, and if you don't keep track of its name and value, then you could just be shooting yourself in the foot. It's essential to remember what it is you're hunting and what it's worth. You can keep track of the fish you've acquired by checking the Fish Tank at the end of each dive.

Some of the highest-rated dishes come from rare fishes like Sharks or Moray Eels. You can only find a limited number of these types of fish in each run.

It's important to hunt for the required fish during every run so that you don't miss any profitable meat.

At the end of the day, you can even enhance the dishes made from common fish to a point where they'll give you a bunch of money as well. This can be done while selecting the day's menu at the restaurant. This will reduce the pressure of getting a certain type of meat every time.

Don't Forget To Use Your Phone

After you mop up the opening objectives in the prologue, you will receive a mobile phone, which you can use to check out several useful apps and features before a dive. You will want to check your To-Do List and your Emails before embarking on a dive, as these can give you a general idea of what fish you should be keeping an eye out for during your dive.

As you progress in the story, various new apps will be installed on your phone where you can upgrade your restaurant's status, check your crops on the vegetable farm, get cards whenever you get a fish, collect certain items for research, and many other things. You can't check your phone underwater, so make sure you do it before diving.

The To-Do List usually has extra clues on the items you need to find, which makes the hunt much easier.

Moreover, some side quests don't appear on the main bar to your left, but you can still check them on the phone.

You Can Stay Underwater For A Long Time

Dave The Diver Underwater

It might seem a little less knowing that you can only dive into the water twice a day (thrice eventually), but the amount of time you can stay underwater is staggering in Dave The Diver. You'll find Oxygen Pods (Oxygen Shells deeper into the water) left and right, and they'll recharge your oxygen fully whenever they're used.

Each pod/shell can only be used once, so make sure you plan your route. If you have a lot of oxygen left and know that you're gonna visit the area with the resupply again, it might be better to leave it for that time. The sheer amount of resupply lets you stay under the water for hours and explore everywhere.

You can also find portable resupply in yellow chests randomly, and these can be used whenever you need them.

Don't rush yourself and try to spend as much time underwater as you can during each run. Sometimes, you might get encumbered because you have items that weigh more than your gear can currently handle. This slows down your speed heavily, but it doesn't have any other effect on Dave.

So, it's not such a bad idea to have too much stuff most of the time. The only time you wouldn't want to be encumbered is when you know you're about to fight a boss. There are two icons that signal the diver having too much weight, and you get slowed more when the second icon appears.

You also won't be able to carry any other item in your inventory once the second icon appears.

Meat Quality Varies With The Fish Condition

There are two different kinds of fish in Dave The Diver: one can directly be harpooned to your inventory and the other leaves a body that you can cut for meat pieces twice. The meat you get from both these types can have varying quality based on their stars (one, two, and three). You have to use specific methods to get higher-quality meat.

For smaller fish, you can use the Net Gun on them to capture a bunch of three-star ones at the same time. When it comes to larger fish, you'll need to Tranquilize them and use the Salvage Drone to take them directly to the boat. You can only have up to three Salvage Drones in each run based on your upgrade level.

Keep in mind that you'll always find supplies like Gun Chests and Ammo near big fish like Sharks.

Pay Attention To Event Food

Events can randomly appear while you're playing Dave The Diver. These usually start when you receive an E-mail at the start of the day, and give you up to three days to collect a specific type of fish. On the day of the event, you'll have to place as many dishes from the required fish as possible.

Make sure that you don't use these dishes in the restaurant's menu before the event as that'll lead to you having lesser for the event. This is necessary for events like Tuna Party since it's quite hard to get high-quality Tuna meat and you can only get a maximum of three three-star Tuna in each run.
