Table of contents

Dave the Diver is a charming indie game that blends the tranquility of a fishing game with the chaotic action of a cooking simulator. During the course of the game, you take control of the hapless Dave who finds himself thrown into the sushi business. He acts as the only employee, doing almost everything for the business including collecting ingredients, serving food, and even hiring new employees.

The majority of the game will be spent in the water collecting resources for your sushi restaurant that opens each night. That said, Dave will need to be constantly killing and collecting fish to feed hungry customers.

This game is in Early Access. Any information in this article may change significantly before full release.

10 Harpoon: Poison Tip

Dave The Diver Poison Harpoon

Weapon crates can be found scattered all along the sea bed. Some will hold guns, and others will hold upgrades for your harpoon gun. Finding upgrades for the base harpoon are all great finds, as all other guns will run out of ammo eventually. The harpoon, on the other hand, has infinite ammo, so it is a valuable resource.

A number of different tips can be found for the harpoon. One of the best tips you can come across is the Poison Tip. This harpoon head will apply constant poison damage to fish it impacts for about five seconds. The damage snowballs immensely and is great for taking out sharks and other fish with large health pools.

9 Hush Dart

Dave The Diver Hush Dart

The Hush Dart has an extremely shallow ammo pool, but this is for good reason. This gun will put any fish you shoot to sleep after about three seconds. Early access games like this one can certainly have their hit-or-miss starting equipment. This one is squarely a hit.

This is powerful because it can be used both offensively and defensively. For large predators, it can buy you a few precious seconds to pop an O2 tank to give you some literal breathing room. For smaller fish, it will allow you to catch them alive, and get more resources out of them as a result.

8 Grenade Launcher

Dave The Diver Grenade Launcher

In terms of raw power, no gun can equal this one. Just as you would expect, this gun fires a grenade that explodes on contact with a fish or the environment.

As you might also expect, this gun also has a shallow ammo pool. Additionally, it is one of the more unwieldy weapons, as the grenades arc severely when they are shot. To make good use of this weapon, make sure to aim above your target!

7 Red Sniper Rifle

Dave The Diver Red Sniper Rifle

The red sniper rifle is a force to be reckoned with. It has the unique ability to fire bullets with infinite range. It shoots in a completely straight line, and the bullet will travel until it reaches the edge of the screen.

This gun only holds three bullets, but each bullet does a staggering amount of damage. If you can manage to land all three shots, it is enough to kill all but the largest predators. On top of all that, the gun shows a laser path of where the bullet will travel, making it all that easier to wield.

6 Harpoon: Lightning Tip

Dave The Diver Lightening Harpoon

The Lightning Tip for the Harpoon Gun, while certainly a health hazard, has its uses in the Blue Hole. This tip will augment the harpoon with a bit more damage but also applies shock damage to fish upon contact.

The shocking effects of this tip don't stop there though. When you hit a fish, the lightning will chain to any other fish nearby. This can be a very useful tool in taking out large groups of small fish. It can also be helpful to kill groups of dangerous jellyfish that often cluster together.

5 Sharp Japanese Sword

Dave The Diver Sharp Japanese Sword

The Sharp Japanese Sword is one of the best melee weapons in the game. It features high damage and long reach, and along with all that, it has a very fast cooldown. All of these features combine to make it one of the highest DPS melee weapons currently in the game.

Melee weapons can be found in the same crates as guns so make sure to forage a lot for this weapon. Not only will legions of fish fall before your blade, but large predators can also be kept at bay by the long reach of this weapon.

4 Shark Harpoon

Dave The Diver Shark Harpoon

The base Harpoon will be your companion from the first day of your fishing adventure. As a result, it should be no surprise that upgrading the weapon to max will yield powerful results. If you put the time and effort into this weapon, it will not disappoint you.

The final upgrade level of the Harpoon transforms it into having an awesome shark body. Though this final level does not offer a cooldown upgrade, the damage is fantastic. It goes up to a base of 24 damage, which can be further upgraded if you find tip upgrades on your dives.

3 Triple Axel

Dave The Diver Triple Axel

Reliable is the best way to describe this gun. It takes very few resources to craft and can be easily upgraded. Because of this, it will most likely be one of the first weapons you can fully upgrade. This weapon fires three bolts forward in a spread pattern, acting as an underwater shotgun

This weapon does impressive damage when all three bolts find their mark. However, this weapon really shines when upgraded with status effects. The amount of bullets that can be landed on a target means that poison, shock, or fire are almost guaranteed to be applied to fish when they are shot with the weapon.

2 Tennis Racket

Dave The Diver Tennis Racket

Humor and power need not be mutually exclusive, and this melee weapon shows it. The Tennis Racket is a very rare weapon that can be found in Weapon Crates. It does 15 base damage, which is pretty high on its own.

This weapon is unique in the fact that it features knockback. And no small amount of knockback either. When a fish is smacked with the Racket, it will be tossed back almost three full meters. This weapon is fantastic for creating space and escaping predators you don't want to deal with.

1 Sticky Bomb Gun

Dave The Diver Sticky Bomb Gun

Experimental. Gooey. Explosions. All things we want in an underwater fishing game.... Well, we didn't know we wanted it, but lucky for us, the developers knew us better than we did. All three of those descriptors can be applied to the final entry on this list.

The Sticky Bomb Gun is the rarest drop in the game for good reason. It rolls the Sniper Rifle and Grenade Launcher into a single weapon. It can fire charges in a straight line at targets that stick to them and explode for massive damage after a short delay. If you are lucky enough to find this gun, expect many shark-based dishes on your menu that night.
