Concept images from Day Break Games' cancelled Marvel MMO have been found online.

Earlier in the week it was reported that Daybreak Games' Marvel MMO had been cancelled, with parent company EG7 saying, “Based on the re-evaluation of the development risk profile, size of investment, and the long-term product portfolio strategy for the group, the board has decided to change the development priorities and reallocate resources within the group to focus on alternative long-term projects.”

Following the cancellation, Pixelkings principal designer Ramiro Galan shared a handful of images on their ArtStation portfolio that give us a first look at what the MMO's character creation screen might have looked like. The description for the gallery also notes that it would have had an "emphasis was on rich and vibrant colors with stylistic tones that pay homage to Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse".

The images show that the player would have been able to choose between playing as a hero or heroine and would have started the character creation process by being able to choose between four factions, SHIELD, the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. They then would have been able to choose between several different outfits, including one with a Marvel logo and another that has a lightning bolt design.

After that, the player would then be able to add several face markings to their character and decide their name. Sadly, Galan's work only shows us one power choice - electricity. The player character here is shown running with that theme and basing their name, style, and face markings around that power, but there obviously would have been more choices in the final game - we just don't get to see them here.

The art-style has some shades of Into the Spider-Verse, from its bold colour palette and exaggerated designs to the player character having their own speech bubbles and joking around with the "comic writer". It's a pretty big departure from Daybreak Games' DC Universe Online, which had a more standard art-style.
