Days Gone offers an immense open world brimming with locations to explore and things to do. In between running away from hoards of freakers, upgrading your drifter bike and listening to Radio Free Oregon, you'll come across 14 Ambush Camps packed with various types of people trying to kill you.

Clearing each camp will clear up fog in the surrounding area revealing more on the map. On top of clear skies, buried beneath each camp are bunkers homing crafting recipes which gives Deacon St. John the ability to craft deadlier weapons and items. Here are the 10 Ambush Camp Locations You Need To Know About in Days Gone.

10 Horse Creek Ambush Camp

Unlocking the crafting recipe for the Stamina Cocktail early on is recommended as you're likely to spend time early on thinking that you're capable of taking on that hoard you've discovered and will spend the next several moments frantically running back to your bike.

Located in the Cascade region, the bunker can be found directly underneath the electrical tower with the blueprints for the cocktail down below.

9 Cascade Radio Tower

The neighbor of the Belknap Ambush Camp, you'll discover this group early. They're a relatively small group unless they become aware of your presence, in which case reinforcements will arrive.

Inside a concrete building, you'll find the bunker with a recipe for the Spiked Bat.

8 Jefferson Rail Tunnel

Few abilities in Days Gone are as important as your Focus skill. Once unlocked, it gives the drifter the ability to slow down time and more time to aim for the head.

Buried beneath this marauder infested camp, you'll find a recipe for Focus Cocktails inside their bunker which is located beside a cabin on top of the hill. This cocktail will restore a portion of your focus giving you more time to tally up headshots in slow motion.

7 Belknap Caves

Just above Crazy Willie's and West of the Cascade Radio Tower, the Belknap Caves and a group of marauders await. With more than enough freakers nearby to assist you in clearing the camp, you'll find their bunker across from one of the wooden bridges connecting the camp.

At the bottom of the ladder, a blueprint for a new craftable awaits. The Smoke Bomb is a key weapon as far as dealing with hoards, disorienting Breakers, or trying to make yourself disappear in a hurry.

Just make sure you've switched back to your rock before throwing it as a distraction, or else you'll end up with some curious enemies investigating a cloud of smoke.

6 Bear Creek Hot Springs

With abandoned vehicles scattered throughout, navigating through 15 unsuspecting foes ought to be easier than defeating Boozer in a thumb wrestling match. The circular doored bunker is hiding behind the camp's fire alongside a wall of rocks.

A strong melee weapon involving a baseball club fittest with several gears, the Superior Club is an effective close-range weapon that deals heavy damage and will be your latest tool of destruction against the endless freaker army.

5 Black Crater

Hiding underneath Patjens Lake Infestation, this camp is home to directions on how to combine a saw blade with a baseball bat, or the Bat Axe. This item one of the strongest melee weapons you'll craft in Days Gone.

Once you have made your way past the impaled corpse laying on a bench, this ripper defended bunker can be found near the back of the camp hiding behind a small wall made out of wood and across from a gigantic campfire.

4 Redwood RV Park Ambush Camp

The RV Park can be found southwest of the Rogue Tunnel Nero Checkpoint just above the border separating the North from the South. Once you've passed the hanging human ornament, you'll meet a rather large group of bald, freaker worshiping rippers.

In between a row of portable toilets and the large wooden fence, located is the hatch leading down to the park bunker.  One of the key weapons you'll rely on often while going up against dozens of freakers is the Attractor Bomb, a bomb which as the name dictates, lures in the infected before exploding.

3 Deerborn

Tucked away Southeast of Sherman's Camp, your reward for clearing this campsite out is discovered several feet below in the bunker found by the Marauder's campfire.

When taking on hoards, stocking up on explosives are ideal as they focus on destroying groups of enemies rather than one at a time. What you'll find here is one more convenient weapon added to your arsenal that you'll be cycling through your survival wheel while taking on dozens of infected, the proximity bomb.

2 Berley Lake Ambush Camp

Admirers of the Drifter Crossbow should seek the camp West of the Berley Lake. Near the Southern border of Lost Lake next door to several nests, a place which will stimulate players fascinated with crafting various styles of bolts.

A recipe for Incendiary Bolts can be collected at the bunker beneath the colossal dead tree along with earning more trust from the people at Iron Mike's.

1 Cascade Lakes Railway

Out of all the weapons Deacon carries on his back, the crossbow might be the finest weapon that requires ammo any camp has to offer, especially if you're taking a stealthy approach. With ammo you can eventually pick back up once unlocking the skill to do so, it comes with a variety of bolt styles.

Poison bolts work as you may imagine with each shot slowly killing whoever you have your crossbow aimed at. A residue bolt that turns enemies on each other and a handful of other styles. Once this camp has been cleared, Deacon will add one more bolt style to his stockpile, the explosive bolt.  This bolt does a superior job of taking out multiple enemies at once.
