Sony's Days Gone has proven to be quite a hit with gamers worldwide following its April 26 release. The exclusive has been dominating UK charts since it's been out, but it's actually doing very well in Japan too.

Well, "well" is probably an understatement here as the zombie shooter has already surpassed the lifetime sales of fellow PS4 exclusives Detroit: Become Human, The Last Guardian, and - you probably won't believe this - God of War, in just two weeks.

Days Gone has also topped the charts in Japan for two straight weeks. The data was drawn from the week of April 29-May 5, a week known as Golden Week in the country. Most people over there were on holiday, so it did the game very little harm as lots more people had more time to play video games, and why not Days Gone?

This is all according to game sales tracker Benji-Sales, who tweeted the following:

"Days Gone was the best selling game in Japan in its second week of sale. In 2 weeks it's surpassed the LIFETIME SALES of these PS4 exclusives in Japan: Detroit: Become Human, God of War, The Last Guardian."

The title has sold over 148,000 copies in Japan so far, having connected with gamers therein in a special way. It's shown no signs of slowing down just yet but hasn't passed lifetime sales of Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Marvel's Spider-Man.

Days Gone's launch has been quite a successful one for Sony. As mentioned above, it's been pretty solid in the UK but also topped the PlayStation Store download charts in the whole of Europe.

It did not top the charts in the US but came in at a strong second at the end of its debut week. The NPD results for April haven't come in as yet so it's still unclear how well it's done in the States overall, but it's very likely that sales were just as high.

Meanwhile, another report has revealed that Sony actually spent $7.9 million on TV ads for Days Gone in the US last month. We'd say it was money well spent.
