The Nintendo Switch is about to receive an MMO in the form of DC Universe Onlinewhich is due to be released this summer.

DC Universe Online is an MMO that allows the player to create their own hero or villain in the world of DC comics, who will go on to join the Justice League or The Society. The player character is given superpowers by a future version of Lex Luthor, who filled the atmosphere with nanobots that can grant special abilities to regular people. There are also special events where the player can take on the role of famous heroes and villains in order to do battle against other players.

The official DC Universe Online website has answered a couple of questions about the Nintendo Switch port of the game. The game will use a brand new server and will be tied to the user's Nintendo Account, which means that players cannot bring over their accounts from other systems. It has been revealed that crossplay won't be in the game at launch, but it's something that the developers are looking into including at a later date. The Nintendo Switch port of DC Universe Online will be free-to-play with in-game purchases, as is the case with every other version of the game.

The portable nature of the Nintendo Switch means that the player will still need an online connection to be able to play the game, which means that the game can be taken anywhere so long as the player can connect to the Internet. It's still unclear whether the player will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription in order to be able to play DC Universe Online, as the game doesn't require a PlayStation Plus subscription on PlayStation 4, but it does require Xbox Live Gold on Xbox One.

It's good to see a popular MMO coming to the Nintendo Switch, but one potential issue that the system has is limited internal storage. DC Universe Online has a minimum file size of 30 GB, which is a big chunk of space for even those with a hefty SD card. It's possible that the download size might turn off a lot of fans who struggle to fit games on their Nintendo Switch.

DC Universe Online is coming to the Nintendo Switch in summer 2019.
