James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed their plans for the future of DC earlier today, and they're pretty ambitious. Not only did we get release years for The Batman 2 and the Joker sequel, we also saw the announcement of a whole host of movies and TV shows that will make up Chapter 1, including everything from Green Lantern to Swamp Thing.

However, one of the smaller details during the announcement could potentially have pretty large ramifications for DC's video game output. According to Peter Safran, both he and Gunn plan to make sure that actors who portray certain heroes or villains in a movie or TV show also portray them in every other piece of media going forward (thanks Collider). Safran brings up Peacemaker and John Cena as an example, pointing to his appearance in Suicide Squad as well as his role in the Peacemaker spinoff series.

"They will also have to go back and forth between film and television because there’s no demarcation for us," said Safran. "If you’re John Cena playing Peacemaker in the movie, you’re playing him in the TV series as well. So that’s a very important part of what we’re doing."

Safran explains that the reason for doing this is to make the DCU much more cohesive than it is at the moment. It's also being done to make sure there's "no audience confusion," going so far as to even make sure the same actor voices the same characters in animated shows too.

It also seems like this rule will also apply to video games going forward, although how this is going to work with the more renowned characters like Robert Pattinson's Batman or Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is anyone's best guess. Suicide Squad: Kill The Justcie League is the only DC-related video game we have on the horizon at the moment, so we'll have to wait and see whether Warner Bros. is going to stump up the cash for some A-grade talent for any games it has planned.
