Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive is working on a new first-person raiding game called Meet Your Maker. It's set to the backdrop of a rustic post-apocalyptic wasteland but rather than being an open sandbox like Rust, it takes Behaviour's signature asynchronous multiplayer and applies it to base-building.

One set of players is tasked with building bases, flying and walking around in first-person, while the other set of players is tasked with raiding. If you're a builder, you need to fortify and protect your outpost, while if you're a raider, you need to take it down (thanks, Eurogamer). Builders can utilise traps, bombs, waste disposal, and more to prevent raiders from getting too deep into the forts.

Builders can then watch videos of raiders attacking their forts and use that information to better their next build, making it harder for the next group of raiders. And to make sure that nothing offensive is made, there's a reporting system baked into the game that will let you flag creations.

Meet Your Maker fort

Raiders are given a harpoon gun and a melee weapon along with grenades - the aim is to break into the fort, get the genmat, and leave. But there's no healthbar. One hit and you're out, so you have to be extra careful manoeuvring these player-crafted interiors.

The genmat is a genetic material that you can find in every outpost - each creation will have a harvester robot that lays out the path to find it, so it's up to the builders to ensure that path is as treacherous as possible.

But it's not all doom and gloom. Builders can also utilise decor to make their forts pretty and aesthetically pleasing, essentially giving them the tools to be level designers. You can then share these custom levels with your friends, challenging each other to get through your own creations.

Meet Your Maker is launching in 2023 on Steam, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. However, you can sign up for a playtest on August 23.
