Deciding who the best killer is in Dead By Daylight is an effort in madness because everyone has their own unique playstyle and personalities that make certain killers better for them. That being said there is a growing group of fans that firmly believe Legion is the best killer and others who think this group is insane.

To be fair there are a lot of arguments to be made for both sides and whether Legion is the best, worst, or mediocre killer in this horror game is largely up to you. Here are some arguments for and against why the Legion is the best killer in the game to help you decide for yourself.

10 The Best: Feral Frenzy Chains

Feral Frenzy is a tremendous perk that gives Legion increased movement speed at the cost of being able to down survivors. Instead Legion can inflict Deep Wound which will restart the Feral Frenzy buff and keep their movement speed up.

Skilled players can perform Feral Frenzy chains where they trigger the perk, inflict a Deep Wound, chase down another survivor to inflict a Deep Wound and keep their Feral Frenzy buff active. Once the chain is complete they can target a particular survivor that’s already been weakened.

9 Not: Feral Frenzy Without Deep Wound

Of course, the Feral Frenzy Chain only works if you can inflict the Deep Wound status effect, failing to do that causes the buff to disappear and you must wait for a 20 second cooldown to use Feral Frenzy again.

As a result you must have great maneuverability and ensure that your hits land to avoid wasting the Feral Frenzy boost. If you’re up against skilled opponents this can be tough and there’s a big difference between how good Legion is when Feral Frenzy is on and when it isn’t.

8 The Best: Punishing Pallet Pushers

Many survivor focused players have gotten really good at the timing of pallets and will abuse them heavily to keep the killer stunned while teammates get work done. Legion has the ability to leap over pallets, something many killers can’t do.

It’s a really effective strategy to chase down a survivor, trick them into dropping the pallet too early and then leaping over with your knife at the ready to cut them to ribbons. It takes some timing, but it’s a brutal tactic that makes survivors think twice about spamming pallets.

7 Not: Slow Startup

If you haven’t noticed, most of what makes Legion a good killer is the effective use of Feral Frenzy, because without it there’s not much working in their favor. It’s important to keep the pressure up and dish out damage continually because once the survivors get away and catch their breath it’s tough to start over.

Legion’s great once the momentum starts rolling and you start inflicting Deep Wounds, but it can be hard to get that momentum going over and over again which is what many players are accustomed to. Skilled players can get past these lulls pretty quickly, but newer players will struggle to kick things off and keep it going.

6 The Best: Slaughtering Grouped Survivors

The best scenario for Legion is when the survivors have all clustered together. Whether it’s working together on the same generator, healing each other’s wounds, or getting someone off the hook it’s a golden opportunity for this killer.

The reason being that his high speed from Feral Frenzy lets him dart between survivors inflicting deep cuts, the more clustered together everyone is the easier it is to zip between targets. Finding ways to cause these groupings is key to Legion’s success.

5 Not: Spread Out Survivors

Players aware of Legion's strengths will know that sticking together is a death sentence and will make a habit of staying spread apart. Survivors will tackle generators solo, heal their own wounds, and only unhook someone when Legion is far away.

This can make being Legion tough as your Feral Frenzy will only carry you so far across the map. If you inflict a Deep Wound and the next target is some distance away you’ll have troubled chaining together attacks and keeping your momentum up.

4 The Best: Stealthy Stature

The Legion is rather small when compared to other killers which is great for messing with survivors. Instead of a lumbering oaf like the Hillbilly charging down hallways which makes it easy for everyone to see where you are, you’ll be darting between shadows and hiding behind various objects to spring an ambush.

Granted a Killer can’t be too stealthy given the game’s mechanics, but with Legion’s size you’ll notice yourself surprising survivors more often than not and there’s nothing more terrifying than seeing Legion sprinting out of the woods at 110% movement speed.

3 Not: Short Stature

While the smaller size can be an advantage for sneaking up on survivors and playing mind games, it can also be incredibly annoying. You’ll have trouble peering over objects and have a general disadvantage for visually spotting survivors.

A great example of this is the cornfield on Coldwind Farm. With Legion you can’t see a single thing and as such it makes a great hiding spot for survivors. It also doesn’t help that Legion can’t see scratch marks either, making many of the Farm or Swamp maps an absolute nightmare to track survivors in.

2 The Best: Easy Ranking With Chaser Emblems

This may or may not be a priority for you, but if you’re keen on having a high killer ranking this season then give Legion another look. They’re great at gaining points with Chaser and sometimes Malicious.

The Feral Frenzy gives you plenty of chances to charge a survivor down and get a hit, it can also be used to keep the pressure on and disrupt a survivor’s actions. Even if you don’t win the match you’ll notice your rank climbing as you rack up Chaser Emblems.

1 Not: Aggressive Playstyle

For some this might be a benefit, but for many players it’s a liability. Legion is an aggressive killer; you have to constantly be moving and attacking to get the most benefit out of them. Milking Feral Frenzy chains and keeping the pressure on the survivors can be frantic and fast-paced, requiring lots of skill and careful attention to be done effectively.

If you’re a newer player this can be hard to get used to. Even experienced players may find themselves having trouble with Legion if they prefer killers with more passive abilities like the Trapper and his bear traps or the Doctor with Carter’s Spark to cause madness.
