Dead By Daylight’s fantastic original characters, unique vision, and one-of-a-kind gameplay all take place in the Entity’s realm. With most information about the mysterious figure of the Entity being scarce, there are several things you may not know.
Most information about the Entity has only been hinted at, briefly mentioned, or has very little content in the Tomes. However, Behaviour keeps giving their loyal player base little bits of information at a time that gradually sheds more light on the ambiguous Entity.
10 There are Sub-Realms Within The Realm Of The Entity
With the majority of Dead By Daylight happening in the main realm of the Entity, many players will be surprised to know that there are actually hundreds upon hundreds of realms within The Entity's world.
For instance, The Observer actually exists in one of these Sub-Realms, far away from the reaches of the Entity itself. This implies that The Entity is not a god-like creature like many assume and that there is some sort of limit to its power.
9 It Is The Essence Of Evil In Its Purest Form
The vast majority of information about the Entity can be found inside of Benedict Baker's journals. Benedict Baker dedicated his life to researching the Entity and trying to uncover the mystery surrounding it.
It was in Benedict's journal that he writes that the Entity is "Evil in its purest form", stating that there is no reasoning with the Entity and that its ultimate goal is to cause absolute chaos.
8 It Survives On Any Type Of Strong Emotion, Not Just Fear
Although the Entity is the incarnation of evil itself, it does require a source of sustenance. From Benedict Baker's journal, we learn that the Entity feeds off of strong emotions of any kind.
This is why the Entity requires the Killer to hunt, terrorize, and hook the Survivors in order to create fear and agony. Interestingly, the Entity also feeds off of positive emotions such as hope, which is why it has Generators and Exits for Survivors.
7 The Survivors And Killers Never Actually Escape Or Die
The Survivors aren't just incredibly unlucky, but rather are being chosen repeatedly time and time again to escape another trial. Each time a Survivor escapes or dies, they are actually just resurrected or respawned at the campfire which is almost like a waiting room for the next trials.
Their memories are wiped after each trial in order to generate the most intense emotion, as there would be no emotions of hope or fear if the Survivors or Killers knew they would never escape. However, after each Survivor respawns at the campfire, they lose a chunk of their soul, gradually becoming a husk of themselves.
6 Killers Are Not Always Evil
Interestingly told through visual design, some Killers aren't 'evil' or morally superior to the Survivors. Canonically, the Plague was extensively tortured by the Entity before she became a Killer for it, as seen in the way that half of her face has been corroded away.
It's safe to assume that with at least some of the Killers (as The Nightmare would need very little encouragement to kill), the Entity is actually forcing them to do its will. Perhaps the people hunting you down aren't evil... or, at least, not that evil.
5 The Entity Is Constantly Changing And Adapting
The Entity takes inspiration from the memories of both Survivors and Killers but, as their minds slowly begin to deteriorate with every regeneration, their memories soon become obscured.
With many maps having significant variants, the game implies that the Entity is slowly manipulating their memories until each Survivor or Killer is hardly able to recognize their maps. Most significantly, as seen in the Resident Evil chapter, Raccoon City Police Department is very similar to what we recognize but has been infected by the pestilence of the Entity in orange biles.
4 The Entity Has One Definite Weakness
Behavior Interactive has introduced a major feature of the Lore into its yearly events (namely the Halloween event). Here, the Entity undergoes a yearly transformative blight. Players can see visually that the Entity is waning at this time.
With Visceral Cankers and Pustula Flowers appearing throughout the Entity, it's clear to see that it is significantly weakened during the Halloween event. It is also proved that the Pustula flowers have been the only cause for how someone managed to escape from the Entity.
3 There Has Only Been One Survivor To Truly Escape The Entity
Out of the countless victims claimed by the Entity, only one ever has managed to truly escape. Many players will have likely seen offerings referencing the unseen character, Vigo, who managed to exploit the one weakness of the Entity and find a way to his freedom.
With a background in science, he extensively studied the Entity and paid close attention to its organic matter while also studying the countless other Realms. When inside of the Entity, Vigo learned the ins and outs of its power, and, although not confirmed, it's heavily implied that he is the one who created the Hatch as an escape for other Survivors.
2 Where Do All The Survivors And Killers Go After The Entity Is Finished With Them?
Within the countless realms of the Entity's world, there is The Void. As ominous as it sounds, after a Survivor becomes thoroughly broken and unable to elicit any strong emotion, they are pointless to the Entity.
They are discarded to another plane of existence within the barriers of the Entity's world and face a cosmic horror. Filled with the broken souls of Survivors and Killers alike, there are seas of countless souls mindlessly scrambling forever, without an escape.
1 Canonically, The Entity Has Made A Dwight So Mad That He Believed Himself To Be An Emperor
Although the Entity is the essence of Evil, hellbent on causing the absolute most chaos and destruction, it's hard to hold a grudge when it gave us a Dwight, who was so mad he greeted peasants with "good words and pizza". As recorded in Benedict Baker's journals, there was a soul, now mad, who went by the name 'Emperor Dwight'.
Declaring that there was "bubblegum tuna on a Tuesday", very little else is known about Emperor Dwight, other than that it would make for a fantastic skin.
