Dead Cells developer Motion Twin is teaming up with Konami for perhaps their biggest collaboration yet. Return to Castlevania is the new DLC for Dead Cells coming in Q1 2023 that sees the Beheaded team up with Alucard and Richter Belmont to take on Dracula.

Motion Twin kicked off The Game Awards pre-show with a new animated trailer showcasing the two Castlevania heroes as they storm Dracula's castle. The Beheaded is first surprised by Alucard and Richter's power, leading to his sudden appearance at the feat of Dracula, but ultimately the three team up to take on the ultimate evil... or a misunderstood vampire lord with the heart of a scientist, depending on whether you've watched the Netflix cartoon or not.

Dead Cells has been on a crossover tear recently. Just last month, Dead Cells released Everyone Is Here Volume 2, bringing crossovers with Terraria, Risk of Rain, Hotline Miami, Shovel Knight, Katana ZERO & Slay the Spire. The first Everyone is Here DLC saw the Beheaded team up with Hollow Knight, Hyper Light Driver, Blasphemous, Gucamelee, Skul: The Hero Slayer, and Curse of the Dead Gods. Indie games are all rallying behind Dead Cells, and it seems to be really working for them.

Castlevania, on the other hand, has been one of Konami's many IPs that hasn't seen much use outside the Netflix anime and the periodic re-release of Castlevania games, the latest of which being the Castlevania Advance Collection. But, if we're really lucky, Konami might be listening to God of War Ragnarok director Eric Williams and let him make a Castlevania game in the style of God of War.
