There’s a new Dead Cells DLC on the way, and you’d better get ready to do some gardening.

Dead Cells just keeps getting better. What is already one of the best games of the 2010s and perhaps the best Metroidvania game of all time has already received several free updates that add new items, new weapons, and new ways to replay the game. Now it's getting it's first paid DLC coming in February.

It's called The Bad Seed, and as the name might suggest, you're going to be doing some gardening. The two new areas are called The Swamp and The Arboretum, and both are designed as alternate locations for The Courtyard/Toxic Sewers and The Ramparts/Ossuary/Ancient Sewers from the original game. This is all to make the early parts of Dead Cells a little different to hook you into just one more playthrough.

There's also a new boss that's supposed to be just as tough as The Concierge. So have fun with that.

As with previous updates, The Bad Seed will also bring new weapons, including a massive scythe, blade fans, and even what appears to be a lute. Or maybe a guitar. It's hard to tell, but it makes a hilarious "twang"-ing noise whenever you bash someone's head with it.

Expect new enemies and even more artefacts to help with your journey, too.

Along with these spicy details, developer Motion Twin has also dropped a brand new trailer that will give us a taste of what to expect in The Bad Seed. Mushrooms, marshes, and blinking eyeball creatures are just a taste of what's in store.

The Bad Seed arrives on February 11th for just $5. It will also come with the new 1.6 update that will bring even more quality-of-life changes and bug fixes.
