Koei Tecmo has announced that the upcoming April update for Dead or Alive 6 will be the fighter's final one. After numerous overpriced season passes and some controversial DLC decisions, it seems the company is ready to move on from this title and let it stagnate in the wild. The update will be available on all platforms starting on April 16. After that, regular online functions will remain active, but no more DLC will be released.

While fans of this particular entry will be sad, many are probably happy that Dead or Alive 6 is putting the brakes on egregious DLC. It's almost gotten to the level of parody with how much additional content is available for purchase. One look at the Steam store page for 6 will show extras in excess of $2,000.

It's hard to tell if this final update was always the plan, or if Koei Tecmo is finally admitting that Dead or Alive 6 didn't move units. The game has been out for a little over a year and is already done. That's never a good sign with any fighter. If Capcom can support Street Fighter V for four years despite casual indifference, Koei Tecmo should have been able to do better here.
