EA Motive has adjusted the sound of the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle in the Dead Space remake thanks to feedback from the community.

Following the announcement of the Dead Space remake, EA Motive promised that it would periodically update players on the game's development, which it did just a few weeks later with a first quick look at gameplay. Last month it revealed more about how audio has been adjusted for the remake, showcasing a new breathing system for Isaac and giving a closer look (well, listen) at the Pulse Rifle and Plasma Cutter.

Although most fans were happy with the new breathing system, there were a few complaints about how the Pulse Rifle and Plasma Cutter sounded compared to the original Dead Space, with some fans saying that both weapons sounded much weaker this time around. EA Motive has taken that feedback on board and has apparently already changed how the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle sound, sharing a video of the new noise on Twitter.

Caden House, Dead Space's community manager, shared a message explaining how the team implemented the feedback on the Dead Space subreddit. He said said, "When we showed you the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle not everyone was sold on it, and there were a handful of criticisms that felt they could still be better. We believe that the feedback given was definitely valid and reading the comments on what was highlighted, we made a few modifications that we think improves it!"

On the Plasma Cutter, the message reads, "You’ll notice the Plasma Cutter frequency range has been rebalanced to focus more on the kick, as well as the lower end. Overall, this better aligns to that “feel” that so many of you mentioned with the original. With the Pulse Rifle, you can hear now that the rhythm is a bit more chaotic and not as tight as the previous version. There’s a bit more volume from the environmental reaction, as well as more feedback from surface impacts."

As for the Pulse Rifle, "In the Original game you can tell that each of the three barrels is firing independently from the others, which I think is exactly what gave the gun its super high-intensity rate of fire, which felt really powerful. BUT in your revisions of the gun, you've changed the actual functionality of the weapon so that all three barrels are firing at once, which is why the fire-rate feels much slower overall, and thus loses some of its intensity from the original."
