Dead Space is no longer dead, with EA Motive remaking Isaac Clarke’s terrifying adventure aboard the Ishimura. In an interview with IGN (thanks Tweak Town), creative director Roman Campos-Oriola confirmed that the remake will not feature any loading screens.

Dead Space will be remade using Dice’s next-gen Frostbite engine, which allows for features like raytracing, and spatial audio. The use of ultrafast SSDs will also ensure that the game will not have any loading screens.

"Then with the really fast SSDs technology we have there's some really interesting things we can do to create a more immersive Ishimura," said Campos-Oriola. "We want to make that immersion deeper with a fully interactive experience from the start screen to the end credits. We don't want anything to pull you out of the experience. There's not going to be any loading. There's not going to be any moments where we're going to cut your experience, or cut the camera--it'll be seamless from the start screen to the end credits."

This will be a major contributing factor to the game’s horror setting. Loading screens usually take you out of the atmosphere created in the game, thus giving you a break from the overall creepy setting of Dead Space. The fact that there will be no loading screens will ensure that players remain immersed in the game and its atmosphere.

The devs also talked about how there will be no microtransactions in the remake as well. “We're looking at what can be taken and reinjected into the first game from a future standpoint," explained EA Motive senior producer Phil Ducharme Ducharme. "We're also learning from mistakes such as microtransactions, which we will not have, for instance, in our game.”

These seem to be positive changes coming to the remake of the horror classic, and we’re not the only ones excited about it. Original Dead Space creator, Glen Schofield, tweeted out his excitement for the remake saying, “Directing the original Dead Space was one of the highlights of my career. Excited to see what the EA Motive Studio team does with it!" EA Motive was appreciative of the encouragement and mentioned that Schofield “paved the way” for them.
