There are few things better at a video game convention than when a presenter or developer tells you that said game is out now. And while the game itself now seems forgettable, the shadow drop 343 Industries pulled off for Halo Infinite's multiplayer was unforgettable. In a similar vein, but probably not with the same effect, Swery65 announced at the Future Games Show that Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise was live on Steam.

This means the game, which was earlier exclusive to the Nintendo Switch is now on PC, and currently playable. On top of all that, it's going at a 30 percent discount right now.

Unfortunately for Swery65, the game's arrival on Steam wasn't exactly a surprise, as we knew about it for over a year. In April last year, we reported that a financial report by Rising Star Games' parent company, Thunderful Group noted that the sequel to Deadly Premonition was a digital, Steam-only launch from developer Toybox. At the time, it was expected to launch some time in 2021, but it was evidently delayed.

According to its Steam description, "Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is an open-world survival horror video game serving as both a sequel and prequel to the original Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut.

"The story takes place in present-day Boston where it turns out FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan will have to revisit a case he thought was solved in 2005. Through unique storytelling, venture back in time to the American town Le Carré, Louisiana and uncover the mysteries buried within this once peaceful town."

Back when it launched, Deadly Premonition 2 came under fire due to its portrayal of trans people. Nintendo didn't particularly handle the situation very well, but Swery65 publicly apologized for the way scenes in question were written and promised to rectify it via a rewrite. A patch was later released which made tweaks to the trans character, removing the problematic representation.

The game also launched with a number of technical issues, chief among which was an unstable framerate. Many of these issues were also fixed via the same update.
