With a prequel to the ever-unnatural and old game Deadly Premonition coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime this year, it's time to take a look at our past characters, the part they had to play, and rank them by intelligence!

We have had our laughs and quandaries with the Deadly Premonition cast, from laughing at their ignorance to contemplating an intuitive statement they made. Let's have a look at where they stand against each other. Who would be the better detective in this small town?

10 The Raincoat Killer

Seen by everyone in Greenvale as a legend-long villain and killer, The Raincoat Killer was no more than the last sane person attempting to stop a wicked red-seeded scheme. What surreal incidents York had with the myth himself were misinterpreted.

Whoever The Raincoat Killer was, he knew what was going on long before the rest of the town did and long before York showed up.

9 Willie

The animals are always watching. Animals, especially household pets, are always listening and watching everything that goes on. Being that Willie is a dog, he is also quite perceptive. Perhaps more so than his owner thinks.

There is no way Willie didn't know what was going on the entire time. Maybe he didn't know if it was a good or bad thing, but he knew. If dogs could talk, this case might have been solved a heck of a lot earlier.

8 Ushah Johnson

Ushah may be an indubitably rich medical practitioner, but he also has the hots for puzzles. Before you even meet him but are attempting to find him, you are put through an irritating computer-chess puzzle that leads you to Ushah's true location.

From Ushah and York's talk, we gather that the doctor is a man of riddles and rhymes who enjoys brainteasing. Not only is he a smart chess player, but he got to investigate the murder victim's body before anyone else (for obvious reasons) and knows far more off the bat.

7 Harry Stewart

When first getting introduced to Harry Stewart he comes off as entirely mischievous and mysterious. He clearly knew more than anyone in the entire town and wasn't going to share the info in any other way than by vague, generalized statements.

Towards the ending of the game we get the truth; Harry really did know what was going on. Besides the fact that the case could have been made smoother had he told York all he knew, Harry has been through a lot and has the experience to back up his beliefs and statements.

6 Forrest Kaysen

As much as it may pain one to admit, it takes a lot to annually visit the same isolated town for an unruly amount of years and produce immortality-trees by way of killing a human. And then getting away with it. And doing it in other places too. Even though it seems you haven't aged a day.

Kaysen has been, in some form, a part of Greenvale for a long time, with the same evil scheme in mind. It only took one traumatized little boy he let see what happened to put an end to his sick games.

5 George Woodman

George Woodman was there from day one and knew everything from day one. He knew exactly what he was doing and what everyone else was, or was going to. Though you have to be somewhat smart to be able to manipulate people or a whole town, his smarts must end there.

And they do stop there, considering he was conned (without much effort, mind you) into becoming what he has. A smart officer and a deceptive man he is, that is all he is.

4 Zach

Zach was there from the very beginning, remembering things so York didn't have to. Or the other way around. Something common of Dissociative Identity Disorder is creating another identity to cope with a trauma that was too much for the original host. Creating York, Zach no longer had to struggle with what he confusingly saw as a kid.

Creating York meant he wasn't alone anymore and since both of them were there from the beginning, deep down they both knew the root of the problem in Greenvale. They just had to search within themselves to figure it out. Because of this, Zach is one of the most intelligent characters in the game despite first impressions.

3 Michael Tillotson

There are many different characters in this deadly story that all play a vital role in the greater scheme of things. Michael Tillotson was someone who was very close to one of those characters.

Being the assistant and voice for an ill, old man who knew exactly what was going on in his town, Michael must have known what was taking place. If he didn't, he could easily put the pieces together or snoop around the mansion. Assuming he's been Harry Stewart's assistant for years now, Michael at least knew enough.

2 Francis York Morgan

Having another guy in your head giving you answers or not, York is smart in his own right! After all, he is the special FBI agent entering a small, isolated town. York was sent on over 'cause he got the brains!

It did help that he had personal ties to the case that subconsciously gave him more insight via dreams and premonitions if you will. But York is a special agent for a reason and he cracked this case just like he has every other. Seeming to never be afeared of anything, York has what it takes to take on difficult tasks, perhaps because he has someone named Zach to help him cope.

1 Isaach and Isaiah Ingram

These little boys see ghosts for cryin' out loud! They probably know even more than everyone else at the very ending and just don't realize because they are so young and innocent. Isaach and Isaiah are the ones who found Anna and the ones who would always be able to see the various victims. Or perhaps any victim, as they can probably see other ghosts too!

There is a legend that children can see things from the spirit realm because they are "closer to the grave" as they were more recently born than other human beings. Perhaps this is why they are so keen to what is going on, more so than the adults present.
