As part of a number of pre-order bonuses, Death Stranding's Special Edition, Collector's Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition will include a digital compilation album, titled Timefall, featuring eight original songs by a musically diverse selection of artists. Sony has just announced the full track list for the album in a new blog post, which also includes a link to the first available song from the collection, by Scottish synth pop group CHVRCHES.

The full list of artists also includes a collaborative track between dancehall/EDM group Major Lazer and up-and-coming R&B singer Khalid; another collaboration between Ibizan pop singer Au/Ra and producer Alan Walker (who has featured Au/Ra previously on his song "Darkside"); radio-friendly indie rockers The Neighborhood; The S.L.P., which is the solo project of English rock band Kasabian's guitarist, Serge Pizzorno; scene music patriarchs Bring Me The Horizon; Swedish alt pop duo Flora Cash; and gloomy American synth pop duo MISSIO.

In his post outlining the album on the Playstation blog, Sony's Global Brand Manager David Bull explains that the inspiration for each song on the album was taken from the game's narrative focus. The game follows Sam Bridges, played by Norman Reedus, attempting to reconnect a fragmented human society and save the human race from extinction. The album's title refers to a rain-like weather event that takes place in the game world, which accelerates the growth and/or decay of biological lifeforms.

CHVRCHES' initial contribution to this collection of songs is bright and hopeful, which contrasts a bit with what we've seen of Death Stranding so far, which has heavily featured a creepy baby and a menacing Mads Mikkelsen. This could possibly be indicative of the narrative direction the game will ultimately take, or rather just the mood CHVRCHES was inspired to create.

Each contributing artist was given time with Death Stranding to hone in on how they related to the game's broader themes, and at least in the case of CHVRCHES, Bull explains that they got to spend some quality time with Mr. Kojima himself in Tokyo. While no information has been provided as to whether the album will be pre-order exclusive, CHVRCHES track, simply titled "Death Stranding," is available on major streaming services now. Additionally, Bull has promised that more information about the album will be revealed in the days leading up to Death Stranding's November 8 release.
