Deltarune Chapter 2 has been out for a few months, and that’s more than long enough for speedrunners to develop winning strategies to complete the game as quickly as possible. One of those strategies has an extremely colorful name that bears some explanation.

It’s called the “Lesbian Skip,” and before we can dive into why, we must first provide some backstory courtesy of Kotaku.

Shayy is the current world record holder for speedrunning Deltarune. He recently appeared at Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 where he explained the Lesbian Skip at around the 22-minute mark.

“Unlike the main route, Lesbian Skip is actually mandatory here. We can’t ever watch what they do,” he said. “The game doesn’t give us an option to, so that’s how you know that this route is absolutely pure evil.”

Why is the Lesbian Skip route evil? Because it literally skips a 10-minute cutscene where you learn more about Susie's relationship with Noelle.

At one point in Deltarune, Kris is approached by Ralsei and asked if they were curious about what happened to Susie, the party tank. Ralsei will present Kris with two options. If "Wondering" is selected, then you'll be treated to a 10-minute cutscene where Susie saves Noelle from werewires before taking her out on a romantic date in Cyber City's Ferris wheel. If you select "Don't Care," however, you skip the 10-minute cutscene and just continue on with the main story.

Since speedruns are all about getting things done fast, the obvious choice here is “Don’t Care” to get back to actually playing the game. But then you miss out on the lesbian romance, which must be heartbreaking for every Deltarune speedrunner.

Awesome Games Done Quick recently wrapped by raising $3.4 million for charity. Several records were set, including one guy who played Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice blindfolded and another where Stardew Valley was "beaten" in just over 17 minutes.
