Bluepoint is being swept up by PlayStation and brought into its extensive roster alongside Insomniac, Naughty Dog, and more, but its last game is still creeping up in sales with the PS5 remake of Demon's Souls having reached 1.4 million copies sold. Yet, 30% of players didn't make it past the 'first' boss.

Well, it's the second boss, really, but you're supposed to die to the Vanguard. Beating 'em gets you some bonus goodies early on, at any rate. The Phalanx marks the path to the Tower Knight and the end of the first area in Boletaria. They're susceptible to fire of which you'll find plenty of throughout the zone by way of bombs. Lob these at the swarm of shielded slugs with spears and you'll tear through it.

Trying to hack and slash at it probably won't yield great results given its hardened exterior and tight formation - maybe that's where people are going wrong. Whatever the case, as pointed out by MelonSaurus, the 30% statistic translates to 420,000 people who have failed to get past the first boss.

Demon's Souls 4-1

To boot, only 33.7% of players managed to power through the entire game to slay the False King, otherwise known as the final boss. That's 462,000 players that lay waste to Boleteria's demon incursion.

Demon's Souls was originally launched on the PS3 - developed by FromSoftware - and it was met with harsh reviews: the world wasn't quite ready for the Dark Souls archetype. On a whole, it sold one million copies, just shy of the 1.4 that its remake has now passed.

For comparison, 82.81% of players on PS3 beat the Phalanx meaning that 380,000 failed to get past that initial hurdle. Things have stayed consistent over the years.
