Bungie has just launched a new inclusion club. Accessibility at Bungie joins Black at Bungie, Women at Bungie, and Trans at Bungie in advocating for disabled gamers in order to improve both its workplace and its games.

In the announcement, Senior Designer Robert Schuster revealed an important change might soon be hitting Destiny 2's ever-popular Hand Cannons. In his third week on the job after being hired last February, Schuster spoke to lead sandbox designer Chris Proctor about what Bungie can do to make Destiny 2's Hand Cannons easier to use for everyone.

“I was hesitant at first to mention [to Chris] one of my barriers: fast-firing non-automatic weapons like Scout Rifles and Hand Cannons cause me hand pain during longer sessions," Schuster said. "Why couldn’t we have a way to enable auto-fire on these kinds of weapons? I braced for a negative response. Instead, he heartily agreed and mentioned it was something he had already been considering as something that we could work toward including in the game."

Adding an auto-fire accessibility option was mentioned a few TWABs ago for weapons that don't already allow for fully automatic firing. We're still waiting on Bungie to provide further details, but it seems like something is definitely in the works and it might be coming soon.

However, a fully automatic option for semi-auto weapons will require changes to the Full-Auto Trigger perk, which essentially does exactly that but at the cost of a weapon perk. Changing Full-Auto to an accessibility option would require altering quite a few weapons, which is probably the reason why this feature has been so long in the making.

In the same announcement, Bungie revealed that it’s partnering with AbleGamers for National Disability Employment Awareness Month by selling an awareness pin. All proceeds go to AbleGamers, an organization dedicated to bringing the joy of gaming to people of all abilities.

A reminder that Trials of Osiris won’t be around this weekend due to Iron Banner taking over the Crucible. Take this as an opportunity to get caught up on your Pinnacle grind and maybe tackle a few of those weekly challenges, too.
