Lightfall has dozens of new weapons for Guardians to chase, including some fan-favorites like Trust and Nameless Midnight.Today, we'll be looking at ten fantastic builds that all Warlocks can try—five tailored for PvP, and five created for PvE content. We cover everything from strong DPS setups to infinite ability spam. All elements have a build as well, so there's something for everyone. Updated February 12, 2024, by Charles Burgar: Season of the Wish has made some massive changes to the Destiny 2 sandbox. Mod adjustments, a new Artifact, and rebalanced Exotics have made build crafting somewhat more difficult than in previous seasons. Fortunately, build variety has never been in a better place, and virtually all subclasses have viable endgame builds for PvE and PvP.
Beyond updating every build with new mod and Artifact recommendations, we've also overhauled the formatting of each build entry. All build information has now been consolidated into a build breakdown table, showcasing every ability, Aspect, Fragment, Exotic, and armor mod we use for the build. Build explanations have been shortened to make them easier to read, and all DIM links have been refreshed.

Say hello to No Time to Explain, an Exotic Pulse Rifle that creates a time portal that fires at enemies with incredible accuracy. With the Stormcaller subclass, you can also summon an Arc Soul or "Arc Buddy" to teamshot every enemy that dares approach you.
Time-to-kill values are extremely low when your portal and Arc Soul are active, and you have access to a fantastic Super in the form of Chaos Reach. If you hate PvP but need to complete 6v6 weeklies, give this build a try.

Getaway Artist allows you to consume your grenade to create an Arc Soul and immediately become Amplified, increasing your Arc Soul's fire rate. The Arc Soul will hover next to your character and fire at anyone in your field of view. You won't get your grenade back in time to refresh your Arc Soul, so we use the Arc Soul Aspect to refresh its duration upon casting a Rift.
The general game flow of this build is:
Consume Grenade -> Get Kills -> Spawn Rift (when your current Arc Soul expires) -> Repeat
To make combat even easier, we pair this build with No Time to Explain, an Exotic Pulse Rifle that creates a Time Portal after you land ten precision hits. This behaves identically to Arc Soul, firing at targets in your field of view. You can have an Arc Soul and Time Portal active simultaneously, drastically lowering your TTK with no input required from you.
The mods and Fragments for this build are mostly down to preference. We use Fragments that boost stats and mods that improve weapon performance. None of these mods or Fragments are hard requirements, so feel free to experiment.
We don't run Spark of Shock or similar grenade mods because Arc Soul doesn't count as a grenade.

Shadebinders are incredibly strong in PvP, capable of stopping opponents in their tracks using their grenades, melee ability, and Super. This build enhances ability uptime by using Osmiomancy Gloves and numerous ability-enhancing armor mods. You'll have the ability to shutdown Supers, Shotgun rushers, and swing 1v1 gunfights in your favor with the power of Stasis freezes.

This build is focused on freezing enemies as often as possible to land some easy multikills. Osmiomancy Gloves buff your Coldsnap Grenade tracking and give you a second grenade charge. When your grenade is on cooldown, Whisper of Torment and 100 Discipline will ensure that it comes back as quickly as possible.
Grenades aren't your only source of freeze on this build. Frostpulse will release a freezing wave of energy when you cast your Rift. Follow up with a melee attack to instantly kill the frozen enemy. This will create even more freezing projectiles through Iceflare Bolts, allowing you to land easy multikills if you can freeze a single target. This even works on Conditional Finality's Stasis shot.
Once you kill a frozen combatant, Whisper of Bonds will spawn an Orb of Power at the target's location. Picking it up will proc Font of Vigor and Endurance, granting +30 Strength and Resilience for a whopping 30 seconds thanks to our mod configuration. The rest of the build focuses on improving your weapon performance and general ability cooldowns.

This season's Artifact has a few Stasis perks that greatly benefit this build. Pillar of Ice doesn't work in PvP, but it is still worth grabbing if you play Shadebinder in PvE content. Hail the Storm is a great perk for this build, increasing your shatter damage against frozen targets. This stacks with Whisper of Fissures. Spec the rest of your Artifact for weapon and origin trait bonuses.

Why Play This Build?
Become the heart of the swarm with this Threadling Strand build. Broodweaver has access to multiple sources of Threadlings, small minions that chase targets before exploding. This build focuses on giving you maximum uptime on these minions while buffing them through Swarmers.
Use your favorite Strand weapon to pick away at your targets as your Threadlings push forward, forcing enemies to reposition or direct their attention to your minion army. Throw grenades, destroy Tangles, or cast your Rift to spawn a small army of Threadlings to push your foes, giving you an advantage in nearly every gunfight.

Threadlings are the centerpiece of this build. Mindspun Invocation allows you to consume your Threadling Grenade to generate five perched Threadlings. Weaver's Call will then create three Threadlings whenever you cast your Rift, releasing all perched Threadlings in the process. The sheer number of Threadlings this creates will usually overwhelm the enemy team.
You can take this further with Swarmers, an Exotic that makes your Threadlings inflict Unravel. Any damage they receive will release Strand projectiles that deal minor damage, delaying HP regeneration. Thread of Generation will trigger from all damage dealt and greatly reduce your grenade cooldown, allowing you to cast more Threadlings. Be sure to spec for 100 Discipline.
If you need even more Threadlings, you can use any Strand weapon with Thread of Rebirth. This will spawn a Threadling every two kills. Rebirth also stacks with Hatchling on Strand weapons to generate even more Threadlings. Play the build correctly, and you'll dominate the match with an army of Strand minions.

This season's Artifact has a few Strand perks you can grab. Unraveling Orbs is the most useful one, granting Unraveling Rounds to your Strand weapons upon grabbing an Orb of Power. This gives you a second source of Unravel for this build. Horde Shuttle doesn't seem to work in PvP, but it allows Unraveled targets to spawn Threadlings as you damage them.

Why Play This Build?
Abilities in Destiny 2's Crucible rarely one-shot and focus more on weakening targets than outright killing them. Not this build. Thanks to Verity's Brow and a few Fragments, it's possible to turn your Void grenades into one-shot killing machines that activate Devour and Volatile Rounds, making you the ultimate slayer in 6v6 modes. If you want to crank up the lethality of Void 3.0 to 11, this is the build for you.

The gameplay loop of this build is straightforward. Eliminating an enemy with a Void weapon will trigger Verity's Brow, increasing your grenade damage by 20% for the next ten seconds. Paired with Echo of Undermining, this is enough damage to one-tap a Guardian at any Resilience level. Get a kill, throw a grenade, and repeat.
You'll need a Void weapon for this build to work, preferably one with Repulsor Brace and some sort of damage perk. We can gain Volatile Rounds through Echo of Instability from Magnetic Grenade kills, allowing your Void weapon to proc Repulsor Brace with every kill. If you pair this with Adrenaline Junkie or Golden Tricorn, you can drastically lower the TTK on your weapon.
Some good weapons for this build include Ros Arago IV, Shayura's Wrath, Exalted Truth, and Traveler's Chosen.
Getting your grenade back is crucial for this build, so we focus on using as many sources of ability regeneration as possible. Feed the Void grants access to Devour, restoring HP and some grenade energy with every kill. Echo of Harvest and Firepower will spawn two Orbs of Power when your grenade gets a kill, proccing Innervation and Absolution to greatly restore your grenade energy.
Through Stacks on Stacks and Charged Up, this will give you x4 Armor Charge. Throwing a grenade will then proc Grenade Kickstart, consuming all four Armor Charge stacks to refund roughly 20% of your grenade energy. All of these effects drastically cut down on your grenade cooldown.

Why Play This Build?
While most PvP builds tend to focus on a specific playstyle or niche synergy, this build is a jack of all trades that can do a little bit of everything. Dawnblades have access to fast movement options through Icarus Dash, and they can fundamentally alter engagements through Heat Rises and multiple healing sources. Play this spec well, and you'll be a nightmare to kill.
We've tailored this build as more of a template than a definitive build, making this the most flexible PvP build for newcomers and veteran Guardians alike. Use your favorite Exotic, weapon, and mods to adjust the build's strengths to suit your playstyle.

This is a build template that can be adapted to suit your playstyle. Arguably the most versatile subclass for Warlocks is Dawnblade, at least for PvP. This subclass has access to the Heat Rises Aspect, which allows you to shoot and use abilities while gliding. It also allows you to consume your grenade to gain a burst of healing and the Heat Rises buff, greatly increasing your airborne time with glides.
You can pair this with Icarus Dash to fling your character forward with a short dash animation. It has a short cooldown, doesn't consume any ability energy, and gains a second charge if Heat Rises is active. Equip Healing Grenades and Phoenix Dive to heal yourself in a pinch, and you can adopt a fairly aggressive playstyle with this subclass.
For the build itself, we recommend a movement Exotic and your favorite weapons. Most players gravitate towards Transversive Steps or Ophidian Aspects for their neutral game, but we're going to recommend Rain of Fire if you own it. This Exotic automatically reloads all of your weapons when you Icarus Dash, allowing you to more or less forgo reloading entirely.
Rain of Fire is absurdly powerful with a double Grenade Launcher build. Use Fighting Lion with a Kinetic GL of your choice, and use mods that enhance your reload speed.
Mods are also down to preference, but we can give some general recommendations. Targeting and Siphon mods are ideal on your helmet, as they give you improved ADS speed, aim assist, and the ability to generate Orbs of Power. These orbs can then proc mods like Recuperation and Better Already to heal you. Throw on Reaper to give yourself another source of orbs, and consider using two Powerful Attraction mods to grab all nearby Orbs of Power when you Phoenix Dive.

This season's Artifact has some great Solar perks you can use. Flint Striker is arguably the most important, granting you Radiant upon landing rapid precision hits with a Solar weapon. This can then proc Kindling Trigger to inflict Scorch, delaying your opponent's HP regeneration. You can also trigger Rays of Precision while Radiant, causing precision kills to trigger an Ignition (a massive explosion).

Heavily inspired by YouTuber Imagine's Sunbracers build, this setup morphs the Dawnblade spec from a support kit into a walking inferno with infinite grenades, infinite melee charges, constant Radiant, x2 Restoration, and the ability to heal teammates at will.
It almost sounds too good to be true, but this build is truly capable of all these things if you play it right. This build also charges Well of Radiance absurdly fast, making this an excellent pick for raids and Grandmaster Nightfalls.

The central focus of this build is Sunbracers, a pair of Exotic gauntlets that grant six seconds of infinite Solar Grenade energy whenever you land a powered melee kill. This means you can throw about five grenades every time you kill someone with your melee. That creates the core gameplay loop: melee -> throw five grenades -> repeat.
To achieve this, we use Incinerator Snap to force an Ignition on a target, counting as a melee kill when the explosion goes off. This will proc Sunbracers and let you spam grenades until the buff expires, at which point you'll have your melee back and can loop the process. The build itself focuses on giving you as much melee energy as possible to minimize any bottlenecks.
Fortunately, you can use Heat Rises to recover 20% of your melee energy whenever you kill a target while airborne. This works with both weapons and abilities, including kills from Incinerator Snap while you're floating. We throw on Ember of Searing to gain an additional 10% melee energy from slain Scorched targets. Since all of your abilities Scorch, this procs all the time. Spec for 100 Strength—Discipline isn't needed since Sunbracers floors your cooldown to one second.
Getting Melee Kills In Endgame Content
In endgame PvE content, you can force Incinerator Snap to Ignite by aiming at the floor directly under a target. If this Ignite kills anyone, it'll proc Sunbracers.
Now that you can throw infinite grenades, you'll want to equip Touch of Flame to make your Solar Grenades emit lava blobs. These lava blobs make your Solar Grenades deal far more single-target DPS, melting Champions with ease. Ember of Torches will also give you and nearby allies access to Radiant whenever you snap your fingers, improving your DPS with all weapons.
Finally, we round off the build with Phoenix Dive. This grants x2 Restoration on use while Heat Rises is active. You can extend the duration of this buff with Ember of Empyrean. So long as you keep killing enemies with Solar damage, you are effectively unkillable. Spec for 100 Resilience and use chest DR mods to further improve your survivability.

Do not take the Flint Striker perk. This prevents Incinerator Snap from triggering Sunbracers.
Season 23's Artifact pushes this build into overpowered territory. Revitalizing Blast gives this build access to Weaken, a debuff that increases your damage by 15%. Since Weaken is a debuff, your allies benefit from it as well. From Whence You Came also increases your ability damage by 5% if the target is Taken or Scorn, the two main factions you'll find in Season 23 content.
The damage buffs don't stop there. Unraveling Rounds gives your Strand weapons the Unraveling Rounds debuff after you pick up an Orb of Power—a resource you generate through grenade kills and the Wished Into Being perk. This allows you to proc Torch, increasing your weapon damage by 5% against targets debuffed by Strand.
To finish the Artifact, we take Solo Operative for a 15% damage bonus while playing alone. Your last perk is down to preference. Rays of Precision effectively gives all your Solar weapons Dragonfly, creating an Ignition on precision kills while Radiant. Alternatively, Argent Ordnance grants a 15% damage buff to Rocket Launchers. This stacks with all buffs and debuffs, including every other Artifact perk this build uses.

Arc 3.0 has made Warlocks the masters of creating Ionic Traces, energy surges that can be collected to gain ability energy. This lets Warlocks spam their abilities with the right build. Thanks to the Falling Sunstar helmet and certain Aspects, spamming your abilities has never been easier.
Use a grenade to spawn Ionic Traces. Use your charged or slide melee to spawn Ionic Traces. Even using Arc weapons will spawn Ionic Traces. All traces you create will also be incredibly fast, regenerate a quarter of all ability energy, and your allies will gain energy as well. Spam infinite grenades, melee attacks, and create a torrent of Ionic Traces with this rather simple Arc 3.0 build.

Fallen Sunstar is the bread and butter of this build, causing your Ionic Traces to grant 25% ability energy and 12.5% to all allies near you. This doesn't have a cooldown, so you can easily recharge your abilities from empty with a single grenade or well-placed melee ability. We can easily spawn Ionic Traces with Electrostatic Mind and Arc Soul.
Electrostatic Mind creates an Ionic Trace when you defeat an Arc-debuffed enemy or land an ability kill. Arc Soul counts as an ability, so any kills it lands will spawn an Ionic Trace. We also use Coldheart to spawn Ionic Traces as we damage enemies. Since Coldheart is a Special weapon, you can run Spark of Beacons to create blinding explosions with every kill. And since Blind is an Arc debuff, it procs Electrostatic Mind, creating even more Ionic Traces.
The only bottleneck to this build is your ammo, but you can easily solve this with armor mods. Special Finisher allows you to spawn a Special ammo brick by performing a finisher with x3 Armor Charge. You can get Armor Charge through, you guessed it, Ionic Traces. We use Elemental Charge to gain x1 Armor Charge for every three traces we grab. Throw on Harominc Scavenger to increase the ammo you receive, and you should have virtually infinite Coldheart ammo.
This build only has one source of HP regeneration by default, so we recommend running Recuperation on your boots and Firepower mods on your gloves. Grab orbs and use your Healing Rift to stay alive.

In essence, you'll be using Contraverse Hold and Voidwalker to throw constant supercharged Vortex Grenades, turning even the toughest of enemies into stardust. It's a low-risk, high-reward build that virtually every player can use. Best of all, it uses an Exotic that drops from a New Light quest, so everyone can replicate this build.

Chaos Accelerant allows you to overcharge your Void grenades. In Vortex Grenade's case, it makes the ability last longer and deal increased damage. You can pair this with Contraverse Hold to gain grenade energy each time Vortex Grenade deals damage. Thanks to Echo of Remnants extending its duration, your Vortex Grenades will last long enough to fully refund your grenade energy.
You can make your grenades even stronger by using Echo of Undermining, a Fragment that causes your grenades to inflict Weaken. This makes the target take 15% more damage from all sources, including your Vortex Grenade. We also run Echo of Instability to gain Volatile Rounds from grenade kills. This pairs nicely with Le Monarque's poison clouds. Get a grenade kill, fire some explosive arrows, and repeat until the threat is dealt with.

This build turns the Broodweaver into the ultimate crowd control spec, creating multiple explosions that chain targets in the air while their HP is helplessly drained through Necrotic Grip. You'll deal constant damage to enemies thanks to continuous poison ticks, have infinite grenades, and suspend every enemy you kill. If you're looking for a casual build that's endgame-viable and easy to play, this is the build for you.

Consuming your Shackle Grenade through Mindspun Invocation will grant the Weaver's Trance buff, causing all weapon final blows to create suspending explosions. You can use Osteo Striga with the Necrotic Grip Exotic gloves to easily trigger this effect. Osteo Striga will eliminate the enemy and spread both its own poison effect and Necrotic Grip's poison.
The end result is a proliferating series of explosions that stun targets and deal solid damage in seasonal content. Thread of Generation will quickly restore your grenade during this process, and Thread of Continuity will keep targets Suspended in the air for a few more seconds. You'll also generate Orbs of Power through Thread of Wisdom, healing you and proccing Thread of Warding's Woven Mail buff for a free 45% damage reduction.
If you dislike using Osteo Striga, this build works well with Necrochasm. Necrotic Grip allows you to trigger Necrochasm's Cursed Thrall explosions with body shot kills, provided the target is poisoned.

Strand has a few perk options in Season 23's Artifact. Unraveling Orbs gives your Strand weapons Unraveling Rounds after you grab an Orb of Power. This is useful if you're using a Strand Heavy like Cataphract or Semiotician. You can then use Horde Shuttle to spawn Threadlings when you damage Unraveled targets. Solo Operative will also buff your damage by 15% while playing solo.

Why Play This Build?
Raw firepower isn't always the answer. Sometimes, all you need is a little bit of crowd control to turn the tide. That's what this build focuses on. By using the Bleak Watcher Aspect, Shadebinders can turn their grenades into Stasis turrets that reliably freeze enemies.
This build focuses on fast grenade cooldowns so you can spawn as many of these turrets as possible, making this an excellent build for Grandmaster Nightfalls, Master Lost Sectors, and raids.

Osmiomancy Gloves grants a second Coldsnap Grenade charge and restores grenade energy when you freeze targets with your Coldsnaps. You can turn this surplus of grenade energy into Bleak Watcher turrets by holding the grenade input, creating an ice turret that lasts for a few seconds. Create a Bleak Watcher, throw a Coldsnap Grenade, and repeat.
To ensure that you can always throw a grenade, this build uses two Grenade Kickstart mods to convert Armor Charge into grenade energy. Armor Charge is gained through Orbs of Power, which we create through Whisper of Bonds, Siphons, and Reaper. You can grab nearby Orbs of Power by casting your Rift. Frozen targets you kill will also refund Rift energy through Whisper of Refraction, so you always have a source of healing
If you own it, we highly recommend using Deliverance as your Special weapon. It can roll with Demolitionist to help recharge your grenades. Use Special Finisher to restore your ammo as needed.

This build can take advantage of Pillar of Ice, creating Stasis crystals whenever you defeat a frozen combatant. Shattering these crystals will then activate Hail the Storm, another Artifact perk that creates Stasis projectiles whenever you shatter a crystal. Use the crystals to proc Whisper of Chains or as an added source of damage.
