Destiny 2: Beyond Light has brought major changes to the loot structure of Destiny 2 as a whole. Major parts of the game were removed including planets and weapons. To make up for this, the new gear Bungie added in Beyond Light is incredibly strong.

The Deep Stone Crypt raid has the strongest weapons in the game currently, some of which could go toe-to-toe with older Pinnacle weapons. Exclusive perks, great perk combinations, and a devastating Exotic are more than enough reasons to farm this raid. For those looking for the best guns, here are all of the Deep Stone Crypt raid's weapons ranked from worst to best in Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

Updated December 24th, 2020 by Charles Burgar: Build variety is stronger than ever thanks to Beyond Light's new suite of perks and weapons. The Deep Stone Crypt weapons offer some of the strongest and most varied perks in the game currently. To reflect this, we have added a section to every Legendary weapon that displays our recommendations for perks you should be chasing on that weapon. We have also added a quick explanation for how to obtain each weapon.

7 Bequest

Destiny 2 Bequest

How to obtain: Drops from Taniks, the Abomination. Can also be purchased from the Abomination Spoils cache.

Arguably the only mediocre weapon tied to the new raid, Bequest is an Arc Sword that packs a serious punch with each swing thanks to its perk pool.

Thresh and En Garde make for an interesting combination, allowing your Heavy ammo to give you Super energy while providing the highest damage per swing out of any Legendary Sword in the game. The overall DPS of this weapon is sadly worse than Falling Guillotine or the Lament, which means its unlikely Bequest will see much use in people's loadouts in the near future.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Tireless Blade, Relentless Strikes
  • Column Two: Surrounded (PvE), Assassin's Blade

6 Trustee

Destiny 2 Trustee Scout Rifle

How to obtain: Drops from the Crypt Security encounter. Can also be purchased from the Security Spoils cache.

For a Scout Rifle, Trustee has certainly made an impact in PvE and PvP. Due to its Rapid-Fire Frame and excellent scope, Trustee has taken over the role of Randy's Throwing Knife in Destiny 2' sandbox.

Perks on this weapon are mixed. Only two damage perks exist on this gun: High-Impact Reserves and Redirection. Redirection might give a 2x damage bonus when it has five or more stacks, but that is rarely enough to one-tap majors. High-Impact Reserves is excellent in PvP since it allows this weapon to four-tap Guardians—matching the TTK of most slower RPM Scout Rifles. Instead of obtaining damage, Guardians should focus on obtaining a roll with Reconstruction and Wellspring to make Trustee an ability-generating machine.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Reconstruction, Killing Wind, Zen Moment (controller)
  • Column Two: Wellspring, Redirection (PvE), High-Impact Reserves (PvP)

5 Succession

Destiny 2 Succession

How to obtain: Drops from Atraks-1, Fallen Exo. Can also be purchased from the Replication Spoils cache.

Fans of Aggressive Frame Sniper Rifles need to obtain a good roll of the new Succession Sniper Rifle. This Kinetic weapon packs a serious punch, capable of rolling with Vorpal Weapon or the new Recombination perk.

Recombination grants very little damage in PvP to warrant using, but it can be used to gain up to a 100% damage boost in PvE. Reconstruction can also roll on this weapon alongside a damage perk, allowing Succession to obtain an eight or ten-round magazine that is buffed by Vorpal Weapon. PvE players will want to obtain this weapon to make boss DPS phases go a little bit smoother.

PvP players can also take advantage of this weapon's ability to roll with both Killing Wind and Snapshot Sights. The responsiveness of Succession after a kill is close to what Beloved used to provide. Combine this with Whisper of Hedrons, High-Energy Fire, or an Empowering Rift to one-tap Guardians to the chest in PvP.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Reconstruction, Killing Wind (PvP), Moving Target (PvP)
  • Column Two: Vorpal Weapon (PvE), Recombination (PvE), Snapshot Sights (PvP)

4 Posterity

Destiny 2 Posterity

How to obtain: Drops from the Descent raid encounter. Can also be purchased from the Disarmament Spoils cache.

Not Forgotten has returned in the form of Posterity, an Arc 180 RPM Hand Cannon that has a fantastic suite of perks to roll from. Even if you hate 180 RPM Hand Cannons, Posterity is strong enough to warrant giving it a try.

Reconstruction and One for All is an absurdly strong combination in PvE, doubling your magazine while granting a 33% damage buff after hitting three enemies, lasting ten seconds when activated. As long as you can activate another damage buff like Whisper of Hedrons, Posterity can rival the damage output of most Adaptive or Aggressive Frame Hand Cannons while maintaining its pinpoint accuracy.

Posterity shines even brighter inside of the Crucible. A roll with Killing Wind and Rampage turns this weapon into Not Forgotten, allowing it to comfortable three-tap Guardians from absurdly long distances. If Rampage is coupled with Whisper of Hedrons or High-Energy Fire, Posterity can even two-tap Guardians as pre-nerf Not Forgotten was capable of! Don't let its suboptimal weapon frame dissuade you from farming this gun; Posterity is easily one of the best Hand Cannons in Destiny 2 currently.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Rapid Hit, Killing Wind, Reconstruction
  • Column Two: Rampage, Demolitionist, One for All (PvE)

3 Eyes Of Tomorrow

Destiny 2 Eyes of Tomorrow

How to obtain: Has a 10% chance to drop after defeating Taniks, the Abomination. It can only drop on your first completion per character per week.

Gjallarhorn is arguably the most iconic weapon in the Destiny franchise due to its rarity at launch and the unethical amount of damage it could dish out every shot. It's sad that Gjallarhorn will likely never return in Destiny 2, but that's OK. We have Eyes of Tomorrow to take its place.

Eyes of Tomorrow is Destiny 2's take on the mythical Rocket Launcher. Instead of firing a rocket that splits into miniature explosives that track, Eyes of Tomorrow cuts out the middle man and fires a volley of six rockets at once that can individually track targets. The tracking on Eyes of Tomorrow is aggressive, almost on par with Truth with its ability to curve around walls.

Unlike most Rocket Launchers, Eyes of Tomorrow deals a great deal of damage with every shot. This weapon has one of the highest burst DPS values in the game, has respectable sustained DPS against bosses, and can be further enhanced thanks to the Adaptive Ordnance perk—which grants a 50% damage increase to your next volley after you kill four enemies with any weapon, not just Eyes of Tomorrow (this is likely a bug). Considering it deals Solar splash damage, Eyes of Tomorrow is also eligible for spawning Warmind Cells when coupled with the Wrath of Rasputin Combat Style Mod.

With all of those positives, why isn't this the top entry on the list? Sadly, Eyes of Tomorrow has a severe damage penalty against raid and Nightfall bosses, making it a subpar choice for boss DPS. Worse, the time it takes to fire this gun is enough for someone to kill you in the Crucible, which makes Wardcliff Coil an objectively better option in that environment. If you're lucky enough to get this weapon to drop, however, few weapons can match the raw damage that Eyes of Tomorrow can dish out in PvE and Gambit.

2 Heritage

Destiny 2 Heritage

How to obtain: Drops from Atraks-1, Fallen Exo. Can also be purchased from the Replication Spoils cache.

Chaperone finally has some serious competition with the release of the Heritage Kinetic Shotgun. It is effectively a Legendary Chaperone: it fires slugs, has an absurdly long range for a Shotgun, and gains increased effective range after a kill.

For that final part to occur, you will need a Heritage with Killing Wind. Slideshot also pairs nicely with Killing Wind inside of PvP. With both perks active, Heritage can reach nearly 12 meters of effective range.

Reconstruction and Recombination can roll on this weapon, making this a fantastic Shotgun for DPS phases or killing majors. It isn't uncommon to have 12 rounds at the ready thanks to Reconstruction. Recombination just makes the burst DPS even higher by granting a devastating initial Shotgun blast that deals nearly twice as much damage. Every player should farm for a good Heritage roll.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Reconstruction, Slideshot (PvP)
  • Column Two: Recombination (PvE), Killing Wind (PvP), Snapshot Sights (PvP)

1 Commemoration

Destiny 2 Commemoration

How to obtain: Drops from Taniks, the Abomination. Can also be purchased from the Abomination Spoils cache.

Commemoration is a perfect blend between Hammerhead and 21% Delirium. As an Adaptive Frame, Commemoration has the same range, aim assist, and overall damage that one would expect from Hammerhead. However, some of its perks also turn this weapon into a slower version of 21% Delirium.

Rampage and Recombination can roll on this weapon, giving it a 33% damage buff after killing three enemies. Recombination is the real star of the show, allowing Commemoration to reach a magazine capacity of 118 to 140 rounds. Guardians can fire this weapon for an extended period of time without ever needing to reload, making Commemoration the closest replacement to 21% Delirium the Destiny community has seen thus far.

PvE players will want this weapon for its great group clearing potential. PvP players will want this gun for its absurd aim assist and range stats inherited from Hammerhead. Gambit players will also want Commemoration since it is virtually the same as Hammerhead but has a higher infusion cap. No matter what activities you enjoy, Commemoration is sure to impress.

Recommended Traits:

  • Column One: Reconstruction, Dynamic Sway Reduction (PvP, controller)
  • Column Two: Rampage, Dragonfly (PvE), Moving Target (PvP)
