Once you've completed the Beyond Light campaign in Destiny 2, the Europa vendor Variks will begin offering a variety of new missions to complete and perks to unlock. While they may not seem like much now, Sabotage quests will be incredibly important for power progression and weapon farming in the weeks to come.

What Are Sabotage Missions

Once the quest Reclaiming Europa has been completed, players will have access to a group of missions from Variks called Sabotages. There are three tiers of sabotage missions that must all be completed one time to unlock the perks they offer. Currently, the available sabotage missions relate specifically to the collection of Hereafter pieces and the completion of Empire Hunts.

While completing every Sabotage is essential, there is a preferred completion order. For the sake of efficiency, the first Sabotage in each tier should be completed first. These first three will passively increase the amount of Hereafter Pieces you collect from precision kills, stasis kills, and completion of activities on Europa.

In particular, the Tier One Sabotage called Europan Defender will increase the rate of Hereafter Piece collection for the first 30 of each day. This means running Lost Sectors on Europa will reward ten pieces instead of three, so it's a good idea to run each of the Lost Sectors each day for an easy way to earn 30 pieces.

After those three, the next two that should be completed are Europa Challenges 1 and Empire Hunts 1. These former will provide a powerful upgrade for completing eight of Varik's bounties, while the latter will decrease the cost of Empire Hunts from 40 to 20. These should be completed before Europa Challenge 2 and Empire Hunts 2 because these two Sabtoges require Empire Hunt completions.

Completing Empire Hunts

To unlock Europa Challenge 2 and Empire Hunts 2, you'll need to purchase and complete Empire Hunts from Variks. These missions are multi-step and require you to farm certain types of kills in Europa before participating in an abreviated public event and finally running a mini-strike to kill one of the three Fallen leaders: Phylax, Kridis, and Praxis. Once you've completed all three hunts (and farmed precisions and stasis kills in them) you'll unlock a weekly free Empire Hunt and a weekly Empire Hunt Challenge.

The Empire Hunt Challenge won't be visible on your map until you reach step three out of four for any Empire Hunt. Once you have access to actually enter the mission and defeat the boss, you'll see a marker on your map for the challenge. The weekly Empire Hunt Challenge currently rewards a powerful engram.

Destiny 2 Sabotage

In the coming weeks, more Sabotages will unlock that reward additional benefits for completing Empire Hunts. Eventually, we'll be able to unlock "elected difficulty" Empire Hunts which are needed to earn the Master Of The Hunt triumph and complete the Beyond Light Seal to earn the Shattered title. A tier three Sabotage

will also unlock a weekly high-stat Crystocrene armor drop from the first Empire Hunt complete each week.

Until then, start saving up Hereafter Pieces by completing Lost Sectors and public events each day.
