On Tuesday, the Destiny 2 community was finally greeted with the community event that had been foretold for weeks thanks to datamines. The "Improving the Eliskni Quarters" event was supposed to last until December 6, giving Guardians something to do before the start of Season 19. However, instead of lasting two weeks, the event lasted just over a day thanks to an exploit.Improving the Eliksni quarters involved gathering Captain's Coins from various activities. However, after the first two upgrades were unlocked for the event, the chest in the Eliksni Quarters started accepting Treasure Coordinates and Map Fragments as well as Captain's Coins. This seems to have been part of Bungie's plan for the event, but what wasn't part of the plan was a glitch that allowed Guardians to achieve infinite Treasure Coordinates.Related: The Game Awards Biggest SnubsThe glitch is relatively simple: just open the donations chest, open your Captain's Atlas in the quest menu, slot the Rumored Treasure Map, and then swap in any other high-cost map. Then just keep swapping them back and form to keep gaining more and more Treasure Coordinates. Repeat until that stage of the quest is done.

Since so many Guardians got word of the glitch, that phase of the community event was done in hours, which was then followed by a phase that allowed Guardians to donate planetary materials instead of Coins. And since most Guardians have a ton of planetary materials lying around (or can easily get some from Raul), the entire community event was over by Wednesday reset.

And that might be a good thing. There was already more than a few complaints about the rewards for the community event being rather meager for something that would last two weeks, but with the event already done, Guardians can take a breather until Season 19 arrives on December 6. And if you want to check out the end-of-season cinematic before then, it leaked a few days ago.
