Destiny is an ever-evolving franchise that can get dizzying at times with how rapidly it changes. Things are about to change even more when Beyond Light launches later this year.

One of the largest changes Bungie is making is incorporating the Destiny Content Vault (DCV for short). This system will retire content from the game and cycle it with new content or remastered content from the original Destiny like the Vault of Glass. Content removed from the game is planned to reenter the game at a later point, but the timeframe for this is currently unknown. Whether you are for or against this system, here is everything the proposed DCV plans to remove from Destiny 2 in the coming fall expansion.

10 Mercury

By far the least-enjoyed planet in Destiny 2 is Mercury. This small area has little to do and contains some of the worst Strikes the franchise has ever seen.

Gear tied to this planet, such as Prophecy weapons and the Mercury armor set, will also be removed from the game. These Prophecy weapons are needed to earn the Wayfarer title, so grind for that now before Bungie removes the planet in its entirety. Its retirement into the DCV also means the Curse of Osiris campaign tied to this planet will also be deleted from the game.

9 Io

Besides the location's stellar music, few will miss the little content Io provided. This planet houses a Vex Pyramidion, complete with its own Strike.

Two Strikes, "The Whisper" 20-minute mission, and Asher Mir's unique gear will be retired once Beyond Light launches. Whisper of the Worm will be obtainable again through other means Bungie has not specified just yet, but the removal of "The Whisper's" fantastic "green room" kill farm will be a sad sight for many hardcore Destiny players.

8 Titan

Only one Strike—Savathun's Song—is tied to this soon-to-be-retired location. Titan might not have a large playspace or a breadth of content, but its beautiful skyboxes will be missed by a select few Guardians. This also means the tough rendition of the Strike that must be completed to obtain Thorn will be removed as well, which will likely make Thorn easier to obtain than it is currently.

7 Mars

Unlike previous planets mentioned, Mars has much more content tied to it. Two Strikes, multiple armor sets, and Escalation Protocol are all tied to this planet.

Escalation Protocol is the real loss here, as this activity is tied to various quests and grants some of the coolest looking armor in the game. Its IKELOS weapons have been added to the Prophecy dungeon introduced in Season of Arrivals, although this dungeon will also be retired as Beyond Light launches—meaning the IKELOS weapons will also be retired if temporarily.

6 Leviathan

The Leviathan isn't a traditional planet but rather a themed location that many of Destiny 2's raids and activities take place on.

With the removal of the Leviathan, players will lose access to the Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, and Crown of Sorrow raids alongside their respective Prestige variants. Also, the Menagerie activity introduced in Season of Opulence will also be removed from the game. This is a massive blow to the game's loot pool and the ability for players to farm god rolls for over 30 weapons.

5 Tribute Hall

Tied in with the Leviathan, the Tribute Hall is the definitive location to test builds and weapons at.

Players invest resources into the Tribute Hall to unlock tributes. These tributes allow players to summon enemies, spawn ammo, and eventually unlock "The Other Side" mission to earn Bad Juju. If you test your weapons or builds here or in the Cargo Bay 3 Lost Sector on Titan, now is the time to shift your testing grounds elsewhere.

4 Red War Campaign

Via Bungie

Since core planets from Year 1 of Destiny 2 are going, their associated campaigns will be removed from the game. These include the Red War campaign, Curse of Osiris campaign, and Warmind campaign.

Red War was a major selling point for Destiny 2's launch, being one of the only cinematic experiences the game currently has. Curse of Osiris and Warmind's campaigns were received less favorably, but they still offer a few hours of fun that have more flair than what Destiny 2 usually provides.

3 Scourge Of The Past Raid And Potentially Forges

This is more speculation than definite, but the recent articles released by Bungie heavily imply that some of Black Armory's content is about to enter the Destiny Content Vault.

Bungie mentions there only being 3 raids available when Beyond Light launches. This will likely be Last Wish, Garden of Salvation, and the new raid that takes place in the Deep Stone Crypt. Scourge of the Past is not on that list unless Bungie plans to retire Last Wish or Garden which are currently tied to paid expansions—which seems highly unlikely. If Bungie is removing Scourge, it isn't far-fetched to suggest that Black Armory Forges are also likely to be either removed in their entirety or have only the Nessus Forge removed.

2 Seven Strikes

Seven Strikes are about to be removed from Destiny 2 this fall. Savathun's Song, The Pyramidion, Tree of Probabilities, A Garden World, Strange Terrain, Will of the Thousands, and The Festering Core are all tied to planets that Bungie plans to add to the DCV when Beyond Light launches. This will also include any Nightfall-specific loot tied to these activities, although most of these items are cosmetics.

1 A Third Of Gambit's Maps

Gambit already has a small selection of maps, but this pool is about to get even smaller soon. Two maps are to be removed.

These two maps are Deep Six and New Arcadia, both maps introduced in Season of the Drifter. This is a sad sight for any Gambit fans since these maps incorporated more cover for the center of the map to help teams fend off invaders. Expect to see the lethality of Truth in Gambit increase even more when Beyond Light launches thanks to way Forsaken's Gambit maps are designed.
