Today, we'll be focusing on how you can obtain these classics, listing every activity in Destiny 2 that can drop these reissued Dreaming City weapons. There are quite a few ways of obtaining these weapons, so get ready to visit some activities you might have completely forgotten about or never experienced.

Updated June 24th, 2021, by Charles Burgar: Bungie has announced that the Dreaming City's sunset selection of weapons will be coming back in Season of Splicer starting July 6th. Guardians can chase a new Tigerspite, Abide the Return, or Twilight Oath—all of which have refreshed perk pools that contain more recent perks. In anticipation of this update, we've updated this guide to fix a few mistakes and include one additional means of obtaining Dreaming City gear: Purification Ritual bounties.

Shattered Throne

Destiny 2 Shattered Throne Dungeon

Farmable: Weekly (once per character)

Gear Count: 5 per character

Every encounter in the Shattered Throne dungeon will grant a random piece of Dreaming City loot on your first completion each week. The opening labyrinth encounter, Vorgeth fight, and Dul Incaru boss fight each grant one piece of Dreaming City loot. Armor obtained through this dungeon also tends to roll with high stats, hovering around the 60s for its stat total. If you need good armor, this is the activity to play each week.

Two hidden chests also exist in Shattered Throne that are guaranteed to give you a Dreaming City weapon or armor piece. Let's go over where you can find them.

Chest #1: Thrall Hallway

Destiny 2 Thrall Hall

As you enter the hallway for the first time, keep moving forward. When the path diverts you to the left, jump over the railing in front of you instead. After a second, you'll lose the slowed debuff. Land on the railing under you by jumping, else the fall will kill you. Turn around to find a chest in front of a portal.

Chest #2: After Vorgeth

Destiny 2 Vorgeth

This chest requires a Tincture of Queensfoil to reach.

Make your way to the gravity lift guarded by four Hive Wizards. Don't go up the elevator. Instead, run to the right side of the elevator. You should be right next to a series of hanging pillars. Consume the Tincture of Queensfoil to spawn a series of platforms. Follow the path to find a chest.

Story Missions

Destiny-2-Dreaming-City

Farmable: Weekly (once per character)

Gear Count: 1 per character

Petra Venj will sell a bounty each week that unlocks a story mission tied to the Dreaming City. Depending on the week, it'll be one of these three missions:

  1. Broken Courier: Available when the curse is at its weakest.
  2. The Oracle Engine: Available when the curse is growing.
  3. Dark Monastery: Available when the curse is at its strongest.

Completing one of these missions will finish the bounty, allowing you to turn it in for a Dreaming City item. You can only complete one story mission per character per week.

Ascendant Challenge And Bounty

Destiny 2 Ascendant Realm

Farmable: Weekly (once per character)

Gear Count: 2 per character

There are six Ascendant Challenges in the Dreaming City, one of which is available each week. Completing a challenge for the first time in a given week will grant one random piece of Dreaming City loot. This can be done on each of your characters, giving you three pieces of gear every week.

Petra Venj also sells an Ascendant Challenge weekly bounty that gives a random piece of Dreaming City loot when completed. This bounty only requires an Ascendant Challenge completion, effectively doubling the loot you receive from your weekly completion.

Note: Ascendant Challenges will only reveal themselves if you have consumed a Tincture of Queensfoil.

If you've never completed one of these challenges before, consult our Ascendant Challenge guide. It covers where you can find each challenge and how to complete them.

War For The Dreaming City Bounty

Destiny 2 War for the Dreaming City Bounty

Farmable: Weekly (once per character)

Gear Count: 1 per character

War for the Dreaming City is a bounty that asks you to complete eight daily bounties for Petra Venj through the course of a week. Since she only sells five bounties each day, this will take at least two days to complete. Turn in the bounty for a piece of Dreaming City gear. This can be done once per character per week.

Offering To The Oracle

Destiny 2 Queen's Oracle

Farmable: Weekly (once per character)

Gear Count: 1 per character

Offering to the Oracle is a unique consumable item obtained from the Gateway Between Worlds bounty. This requires you to complete Blind Well runs. Tier IV runs (using a Tier III and an Unstable Charge in one run) grant 50% bounty progress. Once complete, turn in the bounty to receive the offering.

To turn in the offering, travel to the Spine of Keres on the western edge of the map. You can reach it from the Divalian Mists. When you reach a massive Awoken tower, enter the building. Follow the staircase across from the entrance until you meet a Techeun (an Awoken wearing robes). Give the offering to the terminal beside the Techeun to spawn a chest, giving you a piece of Dreaming City gear. This can only be done once per character per week.

Blind Well

Destiny 2 Dreaming City Gear

Farmable: Weekly (once per character)

Gear Count: 1 per character

Blind Well completions give Dreaming City loot. A successful Tier IV Blind Well completion grants a Dreaming City item once per week. To start a Tier IV run, slot in a Tier III Charge of Light in the Oracle Engine. After you defeat the final boss, your Ghost will make a quip about the engine. This will give you a small window to slot in an Unstable Charge into the engine, starting a Tier IV boss fight. Kill the boss to receive your loot. This can be done on each of your characters once per week., no bounty required.

Queen's Bounties

Destiny 2 Purification Ritual Bounty

Farmable: No (bounties are given out randomly)

Gear Count: 1 per bounty

Whenever you complete a weekly activity or bounty in the Dreaming City, there is a small chance that you'll obtain a Purification Ritual bounty, otherwise known as a Queen's Bounty. This unique bounty type doesn't expire and tasks you with completing certain activities while Ascendant—the buff you obtain from drinking a Tincture of Queensfoil.

There are five types of Purification Rituals:

  1. Abyssal Champions: Defeat 4 Abyssal Champions in Ascendant Challenges while Ascendant.
  2. Plague of the Well: Defeat any Plague of the Well (T4 boss) while Ascendant.
  3. The Corrupted: Complete strike "The Corrupted" while Ascendant.
  4. The Shattered Throne: Complete the dungeon "The Shattered Throne" while wearing a full Reverie Dawn set and while Ascendant.
  5. Vorgeth: Defeat Vorgeth, the Boundless Hunger in the dungeon "The Shattered Throne" while Ascendant.

Completing any of these bounties will grant one piece of Dreaming City loot and a Transcendent Blessing—a mod unique to Dreaming City armor that gives you a damage boost against enemies in the Dreaming City.

Purification Ritual Bounty Tips

For all five bounties, you don't have to be Ascendant the entire time. If you drink a Tincture of Queensfoil just before you complete the bounty's objective, you'll complete it. The same advice goes for the Shattered Throne challenge that requires a full Reverie Dawn set. You can equip the armor just before killing Dul Incaru to finish the bounty.

For more specific tips:

  1. Abyssal Champions: The second Ascendant Challange, Forfeit Shrine, gives you infinite Supers to use against Abyssal Champions. If that challenge is active for the week, this bounty should be finished after a single run.
  2. Plague of the Well: Exotics that recharge your Super faster will become exponentially stronger while you have the Harmony buff, making the final boss much easier.
  3. The Corrupted: No tips here. Play at your own pace.
  4. The Shattered Throne: Equip the Reverie Dawn set and pop a Tincture just before the Dul Incaru boss fight.
  5. Vorgeth: Pop a Tincture of Queensfoil just before you start the fight.

Corrupted Eggs

Via: Shacknews

Farmable: No

Gear Count: 40 per account

The Dreaming City and associated activities have 40 hidden Corrupted Eggs for Guardians to break. Similar to Europa's Entropic Shards, Corrupted Eggs can only be broken by one weapon: Wish-Ender. You can obtain the quest for this Exotic Bow from the Shattered Throne dungeon.

Like most things in the Dreaming City, some of these eggs are time-gated. You can find all 40 eggs in the following locations.

  • Nine eggs are in the Dreaming City patrol space.
  • Nine eggs are in the Shattered Throne dungeon.
  • Two eggs are in The Corrupted strike.
  • Five eggs are in the Last Wish raid.
  • Three eggs are in the first, fifth, and sixth weekly Ascendant Challenges.
  • Two eggs are in the second, third, and fourth weekly Ascendant Challenges.

Unlike previous methods, Corrupted Eggs are account bound! Once you break an egg, it'll never respawn. This gives you 40 chances at obtaining your preferred weapon or armor roll. Corrupted Egg progress is shared amongst all of your characters.

If you're going to go through that much trouble to obtain Dreaming City loot, consider chasing the Cursebreaker title while you're at it; breaking all 40 eggs is necessary to earn that title.

Cat Statues

Destiny 2 Gardens Of Esila Cat

Farmable: No

Gear Count: 9 per account

Guardians can find nine hidden Cat Statues in the Dreaming City. If you give one of these statues a Small Gift, it'll grant a Dreaming City item before despawning. Similar to the Corrupted Eggs, these cats are account-wide and don't respawn. You can find all of the Cat Statue locations in our Small Gift and Cat Statue guide.
