Those of you out there who are PlayStation Plus subscribers won't have to wait any longer for one of September's big free games, as it is available for download right now. Destiny 2 is leading the PlayStation Plus games of September by coming out a week early.

Destiny 2 was released less than a year ago, which means that it's odd to see it arrive on PlayStation Plus so soon. The most likely reason is that Bungie wants to drum up interest in the upcoming Forsaken expansion, which is receiving a free 24-hour play session on September 1st, which will give players a chance to check out the new hybrid PVE & PVP Gambit mode.

It should be made clear that it's only the base game of Destiny 2 that is available as a free download. If you want the Curse of Osiris or Hivemind expansions then you will have to pay for them.

Destiny 2 isn't the only big name title being made available for PlayStation Plus in September, as God of War III Remastered is also being given away. The latest God of War title is a strong Game of the Year contender, which means that a lot of new fans may be curious to try out one of Kratos' previous adventures.

Those of you who still own a PlayStation 3 or a PlayStation Vita are also in luck, as there are several titles for that system that are coming to PlayStation Plus in September. The new free games are Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition and QUBE Director's Cut for the PlayStation 3 and Foul Play and Sparkle 2 for the Vita, all of which can also be played on PlayStation 4.
