Final Warning is one of Destiny 2: Lightfall's Exotic weapons. Obtained by completing a short quest, Final Warning is a Lightweight Strand Sidearm that can lock onto targets before releasing a barrage of heat-seeking projectiles. It's perfect for players that stick to the air and use Strand's unique Grapple grenade.

Getting this weapon is somewhat of a grind, requiring you to obtain every Strand Fragment to start the quest. Fortunately, the quest itself is straightforward and shouldn't take long to complete for most players. This guide will showcase how to unlock Final Warning's Exotic quest and guide you through all quest steps.

How To Start The Final Strand Quest

Destiny 2 Final Strand Quest Start

'The Final Strand' is the Exotic quest that grants Final Warning upon completion. To unlock this quest, you must purchase every Strand Fragment on one character. This will require 2,800 Strand Meditations, reduced to 2,600 if you include the free Fragment you receive at the end of the campaign. Once purchased, make your way to the Pouka Pond to start the quest.

If you need more Strand Meditations to start this quest, check out our Strand subclass guide for all drop sources of this resource. As for good farming spots, we recommend you farm Terminal Override and Neomuna Patrols. Terminal Override's bonus chest grants 100 Strand Meditations. Patrols only grant eight each but can be completed in 30 to 60 seconds. Heroic patrols grant 20 Strand Meditations, so keep your eyes peeled for them while farming Terminal Override.

Search For Strand-Inoculated Gadgets

This quest objective requires you to visit Veil Containment, an instanced region that's connected to Zephyr Concourse. Reach the western end of Zephyr Concourse and follow the waypoint on your HUD. It will take you through a portal that leads directly into the Veil Containment zone. Make your way to the entrance to the building, clearing out all the Cabal guarding the entrance.

Defeat The Shadow Legion Looters

Destiny 2 Final Strand Cabal Looter

While the door itself won't open, a small band of Cabal looters will spawn that you must eliminate. They shouldn't pose too much of a threat over Neomuna's typical Shadow Legion forces. A well-timed Super or grenade can make all the difference here. Defeat the waves of Cabal that spawn until you kill the Colossus miniboss, at which point the next step will begin.

Retrieve The Veil Spectrometer

Destiny 2 Final Strand Veil Spectrometer Location

Now that the Shadow Legion looters have been dealt with, your next step requires you to visit Calus' personal ship. Travel to the Typhon Imperator, the massive Pyramid ship located east of Ahimsa Park. After clearing out the first pack of Cabal units inside the ship, you'll see a massive bridge extending under you. Jump down and run along the bridge.

At the end of the zone is a small band of Shadow Legion and a Tormentor, the miniboss units you fought in the Lightfall campaign. Focus on clearing out the fodder units first. When it's down to the Tormentor, focus on damaging the Tormentor's shoulders. Each shoulder has a glowing weakpoint that will detonate when it takes sustained damage, creating a new critical spot. Breaking both shoulder weakpoints will enrage the Tormentor, exposing its chest and causing it to behave more aggressively.

Destiny 2 Tormentor Leap Attack

When you enrage the Tormentor, it will start to spam a leap attack with a clear telegraph. The second the Tormentor leaps into the air, jump away as far as you can. If done correctly, you'll completely avoid the slam attack and following Suppression effect, giving you a short window to damage the Tormentor's shoulders or chest area. Repeat this process until the Tormentor dies, dropping the Veil Spectrometer you're looking for.

Complete Osiris' Training Program

Destiny 2 Headlong Time Trial Strand Power Up

You must now demonstrate your total mastery of Strand before you can create Final Warning. Boot up the 'Headlong: Time Trial' mission from the Neomuna Director. This mission is a timed variant of the Headlong mission from the campaign. Your goal is to complete the obstacle course and subsequent boss fight in five minutes. The good news is the enemies aren't as tough as the Legendary campaign, so don't expect these enemies to take an eternity to kill.

Before you start, we highly recommend you equip Lament in your Heavy slot. This weapon deals absurd burst DPS and is quite easy to use. We also recommend using the Grapple grenade to quickly traverse the first part of the obstacle course. When ready, cross the barrier to start the time trial. The first section is quite easy and should only take 60-90 seconds to clear with the grappling hook.

You can use your Strand Tangles as grappling points. Throw a Tangle and grapple onto it to gain a massive momentum boost.

The challenging part is the final room. You must defeat waves of Vex and a Minotaur boss within the time limit, all while avoiding a rotating death barrier. This sounds much worse than it really is. Since you have the entire Strand subclass unlocked at this point, it shouldn't be a daunting task to clear out the initial Vex. Hunters can use Ensnaring Slam to CC targets. Warlocks can spawn Threadlings with ease, and Titans can suspend targets with their Barricade.

The second the boss spawns, destroy it with your Lament Sword. It should only take a few fully-charged attacks to down the boss. If the barrier starts to get close to you, use the Tangle grappling points near the top of the room to create some distance. The second the boss is dead, the time trial will end. Return to the Pouka Pond in Neomuna when you're done to claim your new Exotic Sidearm.
