Destiny 2's amazing "Forsaken" expansion brought with it two new locations, plenty of new bosses, a new game mode, and a revision to the game's reward and loot systems. Part of what made that expansion so great was the introduction of the Dreaming City, a unique setting dedicated to endgame players with secrets around every corner.

A curse would change the location every week, presenting new activities, enemies, and challenges for players to face. The most interesting part of this location is the Tincture of Queensfoil item, a consumable liquid that reveals even more secrets to this mysterious location. Here is everything you need to know about the Tincture of Queensfoil in Destiny 2.

8 How It Works

The Tincture Of Queensfoil is a consumable item that is rewarded from various Dreaming City activities. Drinking this liquid will ascend your mind for a short period of time.

This item will show hidden objects in the world that would otherwise not exist. Hidden platforms will begin to take shape in the Dreaming City, allowing you to cross large gaps quickly or discover hidden areas. Even if you know where the platforms are, you need the Tincture active or you will fall through the air like nothing's there.

7 Hidden Chests

With hidden areas comes hidden loot. Platforms can lead you to special areas that will reward a hidden chest at the end of the path.

These are called Ascendant Chests, and these chests typically provide planetary resources, Dark Fragments, Glimmer, and a Rare item that can be dismantled for Gunsmith Materials. While that might sound lacking, the bonus resources stack up quickly, allowing you to purchase all of Petra's bounties on the planet or, better yet, purchase other resources or Glimmer from Spider on the Tangled Shore. Finding these chests will also complete certain Triumphs for your account, granting Triumph score that you can show off to others.

6 Ascendant Realm

Tincture Of Queensfoil is the only item in Destiny that can reveal pockets of the Ascendant Realm to you. This is the main reason you use this item.

Every week, a rift to the Ascendant Realm will open up that you must find. This rift is only visible if you are affected by the Tincture's blessing. Once active, you can hop into the rift and begin a short challenge. Terrifying Hive Knights and Taken enemies will swarm you and try to kill you. This is even more intense as you only have one life to complete the challenge. Once you do, the chest will reward you with Reverie Dawn armor, a potential Ghost Shell, Dark Fragments, and a potential Transcendent Blessing bounty.

5 Lasts 30 Minutes

One of the downsides to this item is its limited duration. Active for only 30 minutes, you will have to plan your usage of this coveted item ahead of time.

Those who do not want to use internet guides will have to explore the entire Dreaming City with this buff to find the current week's Ascendant Challenge rift. If your buff ends before you can enter the rift, it will vanish and require an additional Tincture to be consumed. Also, the hidden platforms that dot the Dreaming City will also vanish entirely if this buff ends, making certain platforming sections impossible to do. Since you can have up to 5 of these at a time, it's a good idea to stock up on them before using them so you have a few spares ready to go.

4 Transcendent Blessing Bounties

Special Queen bounties exist in Destiny 2 that requires the user to be under the effects of the Tincture of Queensfoil to complete a certain task.

These are worth doing, however, as they grant Transcendent Blessings. This mod will grant additional damage against enemies that reside in the Dreaming City. Transcendent Blessings can stack, allowing for up to 5 blessings active at once. With 5 active, you gain a 25% damage increase that can stack with other damage enhancing abilities and Supers like Well of Radiance. If you plan of completing The Shattered Throne dungeon by yourself without dying for the triumph, this mod is a great boon for the boss sections of that long dungeon. This is also a great mod for those who wish to complete Tier 3 Blind Well by themselves, stacking this damage bonus with powerful Supers to take down hordes of enemies in seconds.

3 Shattered Throne Secrets

There are certain areas in The Shattered Throne dungeon that can be explored using a Tincture of Queensfoil. These areas can lead to extra chests with loot and lore pieces.

After players finish the first encounter of the dungeon, they will find themselves having to fend off Taken Minotaurs and Captains that guard a long bridge. Before you cross that bridge, turn left and begin to scale the wall at the end of the room. It will reveal a hidden series of platforms that lead to a hidden room. You can find lore and a hidden chest in this area, required for the Cursebreaker title. There is another Ahamkara bone that is in the Taken Ogres section which requires a Tincture to see.

2 Purchase With Baryon Bough

With how many activities you can do in the Dreaming City, it is likely you will accumulate thousands of Baryon Boughs with nothing to spend them on.

Since so many secrets in the Dreaming City require this Tincture of Queensfoil to see or interact with, having a stockpile of these Tinctures is a good idea. Fortunately, you can purchase them with Baryon Boughs from a special vendor. Head to Rheasilvia and progress until you come across a circular room with Ahamkara bones resting on altars. Presenting 25 Baryon Boughs to this skull will grant you a Tincture. You can still only carry 5 per inventory stack at a time, but this is a fantastic way to stock up on the item before you attempt some Transcendent Blessing bounties or Ascendant challenges.

1 Taken Armor Glow

From Reddit user u/hojak

The last thing this item does is a cool cosmetic change to Reverie Dawn armor. While the Tincture's effects are active, your Reverie Dawn armor will become taken.

In other words, your armor will begin to sparkle with a black essence that resembles how Taken enemies appear. This only applies to Reverie Dawn armor pieces equipped, and this change is only cosmetic. You do not have to be in the Dreaming City to consume the Tincture or have this cosmetic change apply. We might not have Taken shaders yet in Destiny 2, but this is the closest thing to appearing like a Taken Guardian we have so far.
