The third set of Seasonal Challenges for Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted is here. Similar to the last two weeks, there are ten challenges up for grabs that grant XP, Bright Dust, and Figments of Darkness. Most challenges this week are quite easy, three of which are retroactive.

Defeating Nightmares on the Leviathan, completing Throne World content, and defeating Champions are just a few challenges introduced this week. If you're looking to stock up on Bright Dust for this season's Solstice event, now is the time to start. Let's go over every challenge tied to this week's challenges, how to complete them, and the rewards you can expect.

Sorrow Bound III

Destiny 2 Sever Grief Zavala And Nightmare

Sorrow Bound III: Complete Bound in Sorrow III and defeat Scorn with precision final blows.

Reward

  • 25,000 XP

Season of the Haunted's main questline is called Bound in Sorrow. If you haven't started it yet, complete this season's opening mission and interact with the H.E.L.M.'s Crown of Sorrow vendor. Once you have the quest, complete as many steps as possible. Bound in Sorrow III is the first three weeks of steps, equivalent to completing the first three Sever missions.

Once you've finished the first objective, you'll need to land 75 precision final blows against Scorn. The Scorn can be from anywhere, so we highly recommend farming the Nightmare Containment activity on the Derelict Leviathan. This area contains excellent enemy density, most of which will be Scorn. Bring a Hand Cannon or Scout Rifle to land some easy headshots.

Nightmare Containment II

Destiny 2 Nightmare Harvester Artifact

Nightmare Containment II: Successfully complete tiers of the Nightmare Containment public event on the Derelict Leviathan throughout the season.

This challenge is retroactive.

Reward

  • 25,000 XP

Nightmare Containment requires you to complete 75 tiers of Nightmare Containment during the season. Each tier of Nightmare Containment counts as one clear. Assuming you complete all three tiers with each Nightmare Containment run, this will take 25 runs to complete. We recommend completing this challenge passively throughout the season or when you have nothing else to do. So long as you play Nightmare Containment a few times a week, you should be able to finish this challenge with little issue.

Binding I

Destiny 2 Duality Dungeon Hidden Chest 2

Binding I: Throughout Season of the Haunted, bind Nightmares after completing Tier III of the Nightmare Containment and open Opulent Chests on the Derelict Leviathan.

This challenge is retroactive.

Rewards

  • Figments of Darkness
  • 25,000 XP

The Binding challenge requires you to complete ten T3 Nightmare Containment runs and bind the Nightmare at the end of the activity. In other words, you'll need to spend 500 Vestiges of Dread to get bonus loot a total of ten times for this challenge. You'll also need to open five Opulent Chests aboard the Derelict Leviathan, accessed in the Royal Pools and Pleasure Gardens through an Opulent Key. Both objectives are retroactive.

Loadout II

Destiny 2 Nightmare Containment Titan With Scythe

Loadout II: On the Derelict Leviathan, defeat combatants with Shotgun or Fusion Rifle final blows and defeat powerful Nightmares.

Reward

  • 25,000 XP

You'll need to defeat 100 enemies on the Derelict Leviathan with Shotguns or Fusion Rifles to finish this challenge. We recommend you either farm Nightmare Containment or one of the Leviathan's side areas with infinitely-spawning adds—the Royal Pools and Pleasure Gardens. The second objective tied to this Seasonal Challenge requires you to defeat 50 powerful Nightmares. Powerful Nightmares include minibosses and bosses aboard the Derelict Leviathan. Nightmares on other destinations do not count. We recommend farming Sever - Grief to get this done quickly.

Throne World Activities

Destiny 2 The Arrival Savathuns Throne World

Throne World Activities: In the Throne World, complete bounties and earn progress by completing patrols, public events, and looting Lost Sectors.

Rewards

  • 25,000 XP
  • 75 Bright Dust

Similar to the Moon challenge from last week, you'll need to farm bounties and Lost Sectors aboard Savathun's Throne World to finish this challenge. You can complete patrols and public events as well, but we recommend farming Lost Sectors a few times to get this done quickly. Grab some bounties from Fynch, then head to your favorite Lost Sector in the region.

Power Broker

Destiny 2 Season Of The Haunted Directory

Power Broker: Reach Power Level 1,560 by earning powerful rewards and Prime Engrams.

This challenge is retroactive.

Rewards

  • 25,000 XP
  • 75 Bright Dust

Reaching 1,560 Power this season should be a fairly easy task for avid Destiny 2 players. 1,560 is this season's Hard Cap, meaning you can reach this by earning Powerful Gear sources. Pinnacle Gear sources will grant the largest jumps, although you typically want to keep these weekly sources until you've reached the Hard Cap. Artifact Power does not contribute to this Seasonal Challenge.

If you're attempting to reach this quickly, complete a Pinnacle Gear challenge before completing a few Powerful Gear sources. Once your gear's level is close to one another, complete another Pinnacle. Rinse and repeat until you're 1,560. Alternatively, the Competitive playlist drops an absurd amount of Powerful Gear if you can win most of your games.

Long-Range Calibration

Destiny 2 A Guardian Wields Ager's Scepter Exotic Trace Rifle.

Long-Range Calibration: Calibrate long-range weapons—Pulse Rifles, Bows, and Trace Rifles—in the Throne World. Bonus progress in Lost Sectors.

Rewards

  • 25,000 XP
  • 75 Bright Dust

While you're completing the Throne World Activities challenge, you'll want to progress this Seasonal Challenge as well. You'll need to land 100 final blows with any long-range weapon while in the Throne World. Lost Sectors in this destination have quite a few enemies, so you should only need to clear a Lost Sector three or four times at most to finish this challenge. As for weapons, we recommend using Prometheus Lens, Trinity Ghoul, or Graviton Lance.

Primeval Entourage

Destiny 2 Gambit Primeval Meatball Boss

Primeval Entourage: Defeat Taken in Gambit. Earn bonus progress for defeating tougher combatants.

Rewards

  • 25,000 XP
  • 75 Bright Dust

Primeval Entourage requires you to defeat 100 Taken enemies in Gambit. Blockers, Primeval Envoys, and the Primeval itself are worth far more kills. You'll want to defend your bank and focus on damaging the Primeval whenever possible. Defeating Blockers and Envoys shouldn't be difficult for most and grants a ton of progress.

Scorched Earth

Destiny 2 Crucible Titan

Scorched Earth: Defeat Guardians in Team Scorched. Charged detonations in midair or on surfaces earn bonus progress.

Rewards

  • 25,000 XP
  • 75 Bright Dust

Team Scorched is a weekly rotating playlist inside the Crucible. Whenever this mode is active, you'll need to kill 50 Guardians with your Scorch Cannon. This alone is quite tough since Guardians are quite mobile in PvP, yet there's a much easier way to down an enemy Guardian: charge your shots first.

The Scorch Cannon works similarly to a Special Grenade Launcher. If you hold the fire button when shooting the Scorch Cannon, releasing the trigger will cause a midair detonation. This will give you more progress towards the Seasonal Challenge and makes landing kills far easier. Lead your shot, fire, and release the trigger when the enemy is near your projectile. You can also hold the trigger once the projectile sticks to a surface to supercharge it, acting as a sort of mine you can detonate from safety. Stay mobile and remember to detonate your shots.

Ultimate Champion

Destiny 2 Champion

Ultimate Champion: Defeat Champions in any Nightfall strike on Hero difficulty or higher. Earn bonus progress at higher difficulty tiers.

Rewards

  • 25,000 XP
  • 75 Bright Dust

You'll need to defeat 60 Champions in Hero-tier Nightfalls to finish this challenge. Higher tiers will grant more progress per Champion kill. Since higher difficulty tiers spawn more Champions, clearing a couple of Master-tier Nightfalls should finish this challenge.

Of course, Master Nightfalls can be quite challenging and feature no matchmaking. For most players, farming Hero-tier Nightfalls is the better alternative. The grind will be slower, yet you'll be able to matchmake with other Guardians. Champions on Hero difficulty are quite easy to kill as well. You can bring Gjallarhorn or Parasite to kill the Champions outright, no mods needed.
