Destiny 2 releases a set of Seasonal Challenges each week for the first ten weeks of a season. These challenges require players to get kills with certain weapons, complete quests, or engage in content they otherwise might avoid.

By doing so, you'll earn tons of XP, Bright Dust to purchase cosmetics with, and the occasional upgrade for that season's progression system. This week features nine challenges instead of the usual ten, although some of these challenges grant more XP and Bright Dust than usual. Let's cover what all nine challenges are this week, their rewards, and how best to complete them.

Sorrow Bound IV

Destiny 2 Bound In Sorrow Week 4 Transmission

Sorrow Bound IV: Complete Bound in Sorrow IV and defeat Cabal Centurions throughout the system.

Reward

  • 25,000 XP

New steps for this season's Bound in Sorrow quest unlock with each new week of the season. Complete Bound in Sorrow I-III, then complete the fourth set of quest steps to finish this challenge. Quest steps involve completing Nightmare Containment and completing that week's Sever mission.

Once that's complete, you'll need to defeat 50 Cabal Centurions anywhere in the game. Just about every Cabal activity will have Centurions for you to kill. Battlegrounds (not the PsiOps variant), the Proving Grounds strike, and the second encounter in the Duality dungeon are great places to farm Cabal kills for this challenge.

Crematory Fist

Destiny 2 Nightmare Containment Titan With Scythe

Crematory Fist: On the Derelict Leviathan, defeat combatants with melee abilities. Solar melee abilities or Nightmares defeated with melee abilities grant additional progress.

Reward

  • 25,000 XP

Crematory Fist requires you to defeat 150 enemies with melee abilities. Solar abilities grant twice as much progress, and Nightmares add yet another multiplier. Nightmare Containment is the best way of completing this challenge. As for each class:

  • Hunter: Use your favorite melee with Knock 'Em Down and Ember of Torches. Each kill will refund your melee.
  • Warlock: Use Incinerator Snap with Ember of Searing and some Elemental Well mods. Heavy Handed, a Charged with Light Arc mod, also works. If you're struggling to kill enemies, use Winter's Guile.
  • Titan: Use Throwing Hammer and Roaring Flames. Pick up your hammer after each throw.

Burning Shame

Destiny 2 Solar 3.0 Featured

Burning Shame: Complete "Sever - Shame" using only a Solar subclass and Solar, Kinetic, or Stasis weapons.

Rewards

  • Figments of Darkness
  • 25,000 XP

Sever - Shame is the first Sever mission, not the mission introduced in week four. You don't need a Bound Essence to play this mission, so you can attempt this challenge at any time. Equip a Solar subclass, then use any Solar, Kinetic, or Stasis weapons. You can swap to these weapons at the end of the mission to finish the challenge, but we recommend speccing your loadout around these restrictions just to be safe.

Shape Of Nightmares I

Destiny 2 Deepsight Haunted Weapon

Shape of Nightmares I: Extract weapon elements from a Haunted weapon with a Deepsight mod.

Reward

  • 25,000 XP

You must extract Resonance out of a red box Haunted weapon to finish this challenge. Only one Resonance extraction is needed. The following weapons qualify for this challenge:

  • Hollow Denial
  • Bump in the Night
  • Tears of Contrition
  • Nezarec's Whisper
  • Firefright
  • Without Remorse

The easiest way to get a Deepsight Haunted weapon is to unlock the "Sever Deepsight" upgrade in the Crown of Sorrow. This guarantees a red box Haunted weapon on your first Sever clear of the week.

Mod Collector

Destiny 2 Nightmare Harvester Artifact

Mod Collector: Unlock artifact mods.

Rewards

  • 50,000 XP
  • 150 Bright Dust

This challenge is retroactive.

For this challenge, you'll need to unlock 12 mods from the seasonal Artifact. You should have 12 mods unlocked at this point if you've been playing Destiny 2 at each weekly reset. If you don't have 12 mods, simply focus on completing Seasonal Challenges and weekly challenges to earn as much XP as possible. You'll unlock 12 mods fairly early into your Season Pass.

Precision Calibration

Destiny 2 Dead Man's Tale Trailer Screenshot

Precision Calibration: Calibrate marksman weapons—Scout Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and Linear Fusion Rifles—by landing precision final blows. Bonus progress against Guardians.

Rewards

  • 25,000 XP
  • 75 Bright Dust

Precision Calibration requires 200 precision final blows from Scout Rifles, Sniper Rifles, or Linear Fusion Rifles. Guardians grant additional progress for this challenge, so fans of PvP might want to get this done inside the Crucible—especially if Momentum Control is active that week.

Scout Rifles aren't a meta pick in either PvE or PvP currently, and Sniper Rifles have been hit rather hard by the Special ammo changes in PvP. If you're looking to finish this challenge quickly, consider farming a Lost Sector on Europa or Savathun's Throne World with any of these weapons:

  • Dead Man's Tale: Arguably the best Scout Rifle in Destiny 2, both for PvE and PvP. Landing headshots is quite easy if you're at medium range.
  • Lorentz Driver: The weapon practically aims for you. Flinch makes it incredibly easy to keep your reticle on a target's head. Use this in PvP.
  • Succession: This is a hard-hitting Sniper Rifle that comes with some great damage perks, notably Recombination.
    • For PvP, use Beloved instead.

High-Value Hunter

Destiny 2 Gambit

High-Value Hunter: Defeat powerful combatants in Gambit. Earn bonus progress for defeating high-value targets.

Rewards

  • 50,000 XP
  • 150 Bright Dust

Powerful combatants include majors, HVTs, Blockers, and the Primeval itself. Just about every tough enemy in Gambit will grant progress towards this challenge. Focus on defeating Blockers whenever they spawn. If you get to spawn the Primeval, kill its Envoys whenever possible to make a ton of progress towards this challenge. The API says you need to defeat 75 powerful combatants, but it typically takes fewer kills than that since Envoys and the Primeval grant more progress.

Flourish Of Power

Destiny 2 Supers

Destiny 2 Supers

Flourish of Power: Defeat Guardians in the Mayhem playlist with Super abilities.

Rewards

  • 25,000 XP
  • 75 Bright Dust

Mayhem is a weekly rotating playlist in the Crucible Directory. You'll need to defeat 50 opponents with your Super to finish this challenge. Thankfully, this is quite easy to do with the accelerated Super recharge rates in this mode. You'll get your Super about every 15 seconds, so we recommend using roaming Supers like Golden Gun and Hammer of Sol. Some Super recommendations:

  • Hunter: Golden Gun: Deadshot, Shadowshot: Moebius Quiver
  • Warlock: Chaos Reach, Nova Warp
  • Titan: Thundercrash, Hammer of Sol

Darkest Nightfall

Destiny 2 Dreaming City Cropped

Darkest Nightfall: Complete any Nightfall strike on Hero difficulty or higher.

Rewards

  • Nightfall Weapon
  • 25,000 XP
  • 75 Bright Dust

Hero is the second difficulty tier for Nightfalls and the highest difficulty that features matchmaking. Completing three Nightfalls will finish this challenge. With how easy Hero-tier Nightfalls are, we recommend completing three of them instead of a Master or GM Nightfall. Be sure to bring anti-Champion mods or a weapon with high enough DPS to bypass their mechanics altogether.
