Destiny 2's Season of the Splicer has added seven new elemental well mods for Guardians to tinker with. Building off Season of the Chosen's elemental well mods, these offerings allow you to spawn specific elemental well types and gain bonuses based on the element consumed.

Constant health regeneration, gaining ability energy from Supers, and allowing explosive weapons to spawn elemental wells are just a few things these new offerings allow. This guide will give a quick overview of how elemental wells work, how to obtain these mods, and a detailed explanation of what each mod does—including a few synergies that might make these mods worth using in your next build.

What Are Elemental Wells?

Destiny 2 Elemental Well

If you don't understand how elemental wells work, we'll give a quick overview of them. For a more in-depth look at how these work as a mechanic, read our guide on last season's elemental well mods.

Elemental wells are glowing orbs that provide ability energy when walked over—ability energy referring to your grenade, melee, and class ability. Every well has an elemental affinity (Solar, Arc, Void, or Stasis), denoted by the color of the well. You can only spawn these wells in PvE.

Grabbing an elemental well that does not match your subclass element grants 10% energy to the ability with the least amount of energy. If the elemental well matches your subclass, that 10% is given to each ability instead.

New to Season of the Splicer, certain elemental well affinities can also grant unique buffs to your character. These buffs are determined by your Combat Style mods—the fourth mod column in your armor. We'll cover these mods individually later in the guide.

How To Obtain These Mods

Destiny 2 HELM Servitor

For Season of the Splicer, you'll need to speak to the Servitor at the H.E.L.M. Each elemental well mod from the Servitor costs three Mod Components and is tied to a certain reputation rank. You can increase the Servitor's reputation by earning Decrypted Data—the Splicer Gauntlet upgrade currency obtained from the Override activity.

To get the most out of these mods, you'll want to obtain the elemental well mods offered last season. You can find these at the H.E.L.M. War Table. These also cost three Mod Components, although these mods are tied to a weekly rotation.

We will only be covering Season of the Splicer mods in this guide. For Season of the Chosen mod breakdowns, consult last season's elemental well guide.

Season Of The Splicer's Elemental Well Mods

Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer Elemental Well Mods

Season 14 added seven new elemental well mods for Guardians to use, most of which synergize nicely with Season of the Chosen's offerings. We'll explain how each mod works and note any unique properties they have.

Reaping Wellmaker

Destiny 2 Reaping Wellmaker

Reaping Wellmaker: After activating your class ability, your next weapon final blow spawns a Void elemental well.

  • Unlock Requirement: Rank 1
  • Affinity: Void
  • Cost: 2 Energy
  • Effect: Spawn a Void elemental well on your next kill after using a class ability

Reaping Wellmaker doesn't have a duration in which you have to kill an enemy. Once you use your class ability, your next kill is guaranteed to spawn a Void elemental well regardless of how much time has passed.

Using your class ability multiple times before a kill does not increase the number of wells that spawn.

Well Of Tenacity

Destiny 2 Well of Tenacity

Well of Tenacity: Picking up a Void elemental well reduces the damage you take from combatants for a short period of time.

  • Unlock Requirement: Rank 2
  • Affinity: Void
  • Cost: 2 Energy
  • Effect: Void elemental wells grant damage reduction
  • Damage Reduction Amount: 10%
  • Duration: 10 seconds

Upon consuming a Void elemental well, you gain 10% damage reduction for ten seconds. Grabbing multiple Void elemental wells will refresh the buff's timers. The damage reduction stacks with other sources such as Protective Light and Concussive Dampener.

Most damage reduction sources in Destiny 2 grant either 25 or 50% damage reduction. The low damage reduction from this mod makes it less appealing, although it can have 100% uptime when combined with Reaping Wellmaker and a short class ability cooldown.

Explosive Wellmaker

Destiny 2 Explosive Wellmaker

Explosive Wellmaker: Rapidly defeating combatants with explosive damage spawns a Solar elemental well.

  • Unlock Requirement: Rank 4
  • Affinity: Solar
  • Cost: 3 Energy
  • Effect: AoE multikills can spawn Solar elemental wells.

Explosive damage consists of anything that deals damage over an area (known as AoE damage by most).

A few notable sources of explosive damage include:

  • Grenades
  • Xenophage
  • Sunshot
  • Ticuu's Divination
  • Graviton Lance
  • Grenade Launchers
  • Rocket Launchers
  • Dragonfly and Firefly

The only notable exception to this is Warmind Cells. These do not spawn Solar elemental wells at all, regardless of how many enemies they kill.

Explosive Wellmaker's elemental well spawn chance is based on how many enemies you rapidly defeat. The more enemies that die in a multikill, the more likely the well is to spawn. It seems guaranteed to spawn if you kill four or more enemies simultaneously.

Well Of Life

Destiny 2 Well of Life

Well of Life: Picking up a Solar elemental well grants increased regeneration for a short period of time.

  • Unlock Requirement: Rank 5
  • Affinity: Solar
  • Cost: 2 Energy
  • Effect: Solar elemental wells grant passive HP regen.
  • Duration: 10 seconds

The HP regen is slightly less than what Karnstein Armlets provide, regenerating a small amount of health per second. Similar to Karnstein Armlets, the HP regen is uninterruptible. Taking damage will not stop the HP regen from occurring, making this an excellent source of damage mitigation when combined with Protective Light or other damage reduction sources.

Grabbing multiple Solar elemental wells will refresh the buff's duration.

Overload Wellmaker

Destiny 2 Overload Wellmaker

Overload Wellmaker: Defeating a combatant with a finisher spawns 2 Arc elemental wells.

  • Unlock Requirement: Rank 7
  • Affinity: Arc
  • Cost: 4 Energy
  • Effect: Finishers spawn 2 Arc elemental wells

Due to how finishers place you next to enemies, you'll usually consume both elemental wells when the animation ends.

This mod doesn't seem to have a cooldown, allowing you to spawn a copious amount of Arc elemental wells if you finish every enemy. Pair this with an Arc subclass to gain 20% ability energy after every finisher.

Well Of Ions

Destiny 2 Well of Ions

Well of Ions: Picking up an Arc elemental well causes your next melee to deal increased damage.

  • Unlock Requirement: Rank 8
  • Affinity: Arc
  • Cost: 2 Energy
  • Effect: Arc elemental wells empower your next melee attack for a short time
  • Damage Bonus: 30%
  • Duration: 10 seconds

Upon consuming an Arc elemental well, your next melee attack will deal 30% increased damage for ten seconds. This works with melee abilities and uncharged melee attacks. Swords and melee-based Supers do not count.

If you grab multiple Arc wells, the buff's timer will gain five seconds, up to a maximum of 20 seconds. Multiple Arc wells do not increase the melee damage bonus.

Shieldcrash Wellmaker

Destiny 2 Shieldcrash Wellmaker

Shieldcrash Wellmaker: Breaking a shield with the matching weapon type creates an elemental well.

  • Unlock Requirement: Rank 10
  • Affinity: Universal
  • Cost: 4 Energy
  • Effect: Spawn and elemental well after breaking an enemy shield that matches your weapon's damage type.

Shieldcrash Wellmaker does what it states in the mod description: you get an elemental well to spawn by breaking a shield that matches your weapon's damage type. The elemental well affinity matches the enemy's shield types. Osmosis weapons can also spawn these wells, provided their damage type matches the enemy's shield.

You can pair this mod with the Shield-Break Charge mod to gain a solid source of Charged with Light as well. This is especially useful in Match Game activities such as Grandmaster Nightfalls and Legendary Lost Sectors.
