The new season of Destiny 2 is a mere three weeks away, and there is a bunch of new content to enjoy. Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming Season of Opulence.

Right off that bat, there is a change incoming to how raid content is handled. While previous seasons had a delay between the patch going live and new raid content being made available to players, "Crown of Sorrow," the new raid with a recommended Power Level of 715 will be available on the same day. Depending on how this change is received by players, it may become a permanent method of rolling out new raid content, shortening the period in which players are gated from facing the newest content head on. Until the Crown of Sorrow raid has been completed, both the Last Wish and Scourge of the Past raids will be locked.

This change in the scheduled release of new raid content may be the result of taking the game in a different direction than under the previous partnership agreement with Blizzard Activision. For years now, gating content has felt like a painful, slow drip in World of Warcraft's LFR system, meaning that it can take months after the initial release of a raid before players have access to the entire content if they are not part of a dedicated raiding guild.

Apart from new content, Bungie is also making an adjustment to how Prime Attunements work. First, the reset will now be two charges per character on day one. Prime Engrams can be earned by all level 50 characters who participate in the new season, and may continue to build on their Prime Attuntements over time after the reset.

In addition to these changes, the long-awaited balance update for Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten will be applied. Both Hand Cannons will be receiving nerfs, primarily through the associated perk, Magnificent Howl, to remove any additional damage to headshots, and with the lowering of RPM from 180 to 150.

Finally, we know in general terms as well that the power increase after farming new content for a while should leave players at around 750 or so. We can expect a slew of new Exotic quests, new weapons, and new armor. From here on out, it will be interesting to see how Bungie chooses to expand on its content road map now that its partnership with Blizzard Activision is over. Will content roll out faster, or slower? Either way, players should keep in mind that there may be unexpected changes because of this shift in business ties, and to be patient as Bungie works to get it right for the players.
