The second Shattered Realm mission in Destiny 2's Season of the Lost has been released. Debris of Dreams is a far more straightforward mission yet has just as many secrets to uncover as the Forest of Echoes. Players will need to defeat an army of Scorn across various islands before facing off against a Scorn Spidertank.

Structurally, this mission is the exact same as the Forest of Echoes. You'll need to activate three beacons and defeat a boss to rescue the Techeun. Completing this mission will unlock True Sight, allowing you to access additional secrets in all three missions. Let's go over how you can rescue one of the Queen's lost Techeuns.

Updated October 12th, 2021, by Charles Burgar: Partway through Season of the Lost, Bungie released Legendary variants of the Shattered Realm missions for players to conquer. These variants have a high chance of dropping seasonal gear when cleared, and clearing them is required for some Seasonal Challenges. This guide has been updated to include information on the Legend variant and good weapons you can use to counter these modifiers.

Legend Difficulty Differences

Destiny 2 Debris of Dreams Beacon #3

This Shattered Realm mission has two difficulty variants: Normal and Legend. Legend is a harder variant with a high chance of dropping an item from Season of the Lost when completed. Legend Debris of Dreams has the following modifiers:

Modifier

Description

Recommended Power Level

  • 1,320 Power

Champions: Unstoppable

  • Unstoppable Abominations are present.

Champions: Overload

  • Overload Chieftains are present.

Equipment Locked

  • You will not be able to change your equipment after this activity starts.

Match Game

  • Enemy shields are highly resistant to all unmatched elemental damage.

Scorched Earth

  • Enemies throw grenades significantly more often.

Chaff

  • Radar is disabled

Shields

  • Arc: Chieftain
  • Solar: Chieftain
  • Void: Chieftain

Chieftains are much more common in the Legend variant, so you'll want to ensure that your team can break every shield type. If you're at 1,320 Power, you can also use a Fusion Rifle with Particle Deconstruction to brute force through their shield.

Recommend Loadout

Destiny 2 Arbalest

For the Legend variant, you'll want to bring a loadout that can break all three shield types, stun Overloads, stagger Unstoppables, and have some range capabilities. That's a lot to ask for, but there are a few solutions.

For solo players, Arbalest is fantastic for this mission. It can break every Shield type in this mission, allowing you to focus on countering Champions for your other slots. Bring a Linear Fusion Rifle in your Heavy slot, and use Unstoppable Fusion to deal with any Unstoppables that spawn. For Overloads, you can either run an Energy Bow or use a subclass that supports the Thermoclastic Strike mod. Alternatively, you can also use One Thousand Voices to brute force through the shields and deal immense damage to any Champion you stun.

If you don't own any of these weapons, here are a few more alternatives:

  • Traveler's Chosen: With the Catalyst, it matches your subclass element type, lets you spam abilities, and it can stagger Unstoppables with Unstoppable Sidearm.
  • Any Bow: Bows can stagger Overloads this season. Some good picks include Ticuu's Divination and Le Monarque.
  • Hard Light or Borealis: Both weapons can swap between any element at will, allowing you to bring a Kinetic Special weapon.

Align The Beacons

Destiny 2 Debris of Dreams

The Scorn have taken hold of a destroyed Fallen base and small islands of debris. Just like last week, you'll need to carve a path towards two different beacons before you can face the final boss and free the Techeun. Don't worry: this mission is much more straightforward than the Forest of Echoes.

Beacon #1

Destiny 2 Debris of Dreams Beacon #1

From spawn, make your way towards the central island that's guarded by a group of Scorn. This will be your first combat encounter on this mission. Turn to your left to find a rather large Fallen structure floating on an island. You'll need to cross the gap and climb up the island to reach the building. Inside is the beacon. Interact with it to start a defense section.

You'll be swarmed by waves of Scorn during this section, coming from all sides. They spawn close together, so any AoE weapon or ability will make short work of the Scorn. Screebs will also creep into the room from the entry doorway. Once again, nothing an AoE weapon can't handle. The final wave will have an Overload Chieftan. If you're high enough Power, you should be able to brute force through its health bar.

Once all the enemies are dead, invoke your Barrier Breach ability by using one of the marks in the room. Run outside, and you should have a clear path to backtrack towards the central island.

Beacon #2

Destiny 2 Debris of Dreams Beacon #2

Now that you're back at the central island, look for floating lights that lead to a cave. The cave entrance is in a cliffside facing spawn. Hop into the cave and follow the path. It'll lead you into a destroyed Fallen base that has a beacon ready for use. Activate the beacon when you're ready.

Scorn will begin to spawn beside you in large numbers. Chieftains and Ravagers will attempt to disrupt your movement by using totems and Stasis, respectively, so keep your distance. Again, any AoE weapons or add-clear Exotics will do wonders here. The very back of the base will spawn an Unstoppable Abomination when the defense objective reaches 50% and 99%. Unless your weapon hits like a truck, you might want to use an Unstoppable mod to stun the Abomination before damaging it. Clear out the rest of the Scorn to finish this defense.

Beacon #3

Destiny 2 Debris of Dreams Beacon #3

The third and final beacon is rather close to the second one. You'll want to backtrack towards the other end of the Fallen base. A series of lights will lead into a shaft that'll bring you further up the outpost. Follow the path to your left. At the end is a Fallen teleporter that'll take you to the final encounter.

Destroy The Scorn Scrapwalker

Destiny 2 Debris of Dreams Scorn Scrapwalker

Instead of fighting a corrupted Techeun, you'll need to destroy a Scorn Scrapwalker to finish this mission. The Scrapwalker is effectively a Scorn Spidertank, featuring cluster rockets and a flamethrower near the front of the tank. There aren't any unique mechanics here; it's just you versus a tank and more Scorn fodder.

Focus on damaging the Scrapwalker's legs. Dealing enough damage to a leg will cause it to break, revealing the tank's precision weakpoint for a limited time. Use everything you have on that weakpoint to destroy the Scrapwalker. Bear in mind that Scorn adds will continue to spawn during this fight, some of which are Stasis-wielding Ravagers. If the adds get out of control, focus on clearing out the Scorn fodder before redirecting your attention to the tank. All of the adds will despawn once the tank is destroyed. Interact with the prompt at the back of the arena to summon a portal for the lost Techeun, finishing this mission. If this is your first time completing this mission, you'll also unlock the True Sight invocation, allowing certain Shattered Realm platforms and chests to materialize.
