Spoils of Conquest are a currency type introduced in Destiny 2's Beyond Light expansion. These tokens can be used to purchase Deep Stone Crypt gear, Vault of Glass gear, and older raid Exotics. Those looking to complete their collection will need hundreds of these Spoils if they wish to obtain every raid Exotic.

Fortunately, earning Spoils of Conquest is rather straightforward. You'll need to find a group to raid with, but the most effective Spoils of Conquest farms are quite easy to do. Let's delve into how you can obtain this resource, potential farms you can try, and ways to earn Spoils of Conquest by yourself.

Updated April 15th, 2022, by Charles Burgar: The Witch Queen expansion has come with a new raid, Vow of the Disciple. And just like previous raids, players can use their hard-earned Spoils of Conquest currency to purchase additional weapon and armor rolls from the final boss chest. Beyond updating this article to include Vow of the Disciple, we've also rewritten every section to better cover all Spoils of Conquest sources, the best farm for this currency, and an up-to-date method of earning this currency entirely solo.

How To Earn Spoils Of Conquest

Destiny 2 Spoils of Conquest

Spoils of Conquest only drop from raids. Every raid in Destiny 2 provides this resource, with the most recent raid dropping more Spoils per encounter clear. Here are all Spoils of Conquest sources in Destiny 2:

Raid

Spoil Amount

Vow of the Disciple (Encounter)

x5

Vow of the Disciple (Hidden Chest)

x5

Vault of Glass (Subsequent Encounters)

x5

Vault of Glass (Hidden Chest)

x5

Legacy Raid Encounters

x3

As of Season of the Risen, Vow of the Disciple is the most recent Destiny 2 raid, so its encounters all drop five Spoils of Conquest when cleared. Its hidden chests also drop five Spoils a piece, allowing you to earn up to 30 Spoils of Conquest per raid clear. Subsequent clears of the raid on the same week will only grant Spoils, and hidden chests won't give any additional loot. The same applies to the Vault of Glass raid; hidden chests and subsequent clears also grant Spoils of Conquest.

If you're looking to earn Spoils elsewhere, you'll have to play a legacy raid—any raid released before the most-recent Destiny 2 raid. For Season of the Risen, that'd be Deep Stone Crypt, Garden of Salvation, and Last Wish. All of those raids will grant three Spoils of Conquest for each encounter clear, although their hidden chests grant no Spoils.

Farming Spoils Of Conquest

Destiny 2 Vow of the Disciple Caretaker Boss

Players can farm either the Vault of Glass or Vow of the Disciple encounters to earn Spoils of Conquest. The best Spoils of Conquest farm is the Templar encounter in the Vault of Glass raid. Templar is a simple encounter, requires almost no raid knowledge, and can be killed in a couple of minutes. If your team is efficient and can kill Templar quickly, this is easily the best Spoils farm in the game. You can also farm Vow of the Disciple encounters (mainly Caretaker), although we find Templar much faster and easier for non-raiders.

Farming Templar For Spoils

Destiny 2 Vault of Glass Templar

The Vault of Glass raid's Templar boss is a breeze to farm with a decent team. A coordinated group can kill the Templar in a couple of minutes per run, and you can save the encounter checkpoint to repeatedly kill this boss multiple times per hour. And since each kill grants five Spoils of Conquest, you can easily earn 50+ Spoils per hour.

Here's how the farm works:

  1. Start the Vault of Glass raid. Reach Templar, or join a group with a boss checkpoint.
  2. Have one player save the checkpoint on an alternate character.
    1. Quit, switch characters, and rejoin.
    2. Start the encounter and wipe.
    3. Your alt now has the checkpoint. Swap back to your main.
  3. Start the encounter. Kill Templar.
  4. One player loads up their alt. Everyone joins them.
  5. Alt player switches to their main.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5.

As for the encounter, Templar is fairly easy to kill. We cover the encounter in-depth in our VoG raid guide[], but the gist is one player will grab an artifact called the Aeigs. This shield will rend the Templar's shield when its Super is charged, starting the DPS phase. The Aegis wielder will stand in circles around the arena to stop the Templar from teleporting, extending the DPS phase. All other players will pump as much damage into the boss as possible.

That's it. If you aren't wielding the Aegis, you just need to deal as much DPS as possible. Gjallarhorn, Izanagi's Burden with a Legendary Rocket Launcher, and Linear Fusion Rifles are all good choices for this fight. Just be sure one fireteam member is a Warlock using Well of Radiance, and consider using the Font of Might mod to further boost your damage.

Earning Spoils Of Conquest Solo

If you aren't interested in farming Templar or raiding in general, it's still possible to earn Spoils of Conquest completely solo. By opening the first hidden chest in certain raids, you can earn a healthy sum of Spoils with minimal effort. Hidden chests accessible to solo players are listed below.

Drops are per character and reset weekly.

Hidden Chest

Spoils

Vow of the Disciple (1st Chest)

x5

*Vault of Glass (1st Chest)

x5

*Requires an out-of-bounds exploit to reach

If you just farm the Vow chests on three characters, you will earn 15 Spoils of Conquest each week. And for those willing to use an out-of-bounds glitch in VoG, you can increase those gains to 30 Spoils of Conquest per week.

Vow Of The Disciple Solo Chest

Destiny 2 Vow of the Disciple Hidden Chest

Vow of the Disciple's first hidden chest is located during the opening barge section. You'll need to destroy three Darkness fragments before you can access the chest:

  1. Barge's Second Stop: Located to the left of a fallen tree branch.
  2. Barge's Third Stop: Continue following the Darkness-paved road. At the end, turn 90 degrees to the left to find the fragment floating in a corner.
  3. Barge's Fourth Stop: Drive over the bridge and turn around. Run through a small gap to find the last fragment.

From the last shard, turn around and drive directly across. You'll find a building with its door now open, revealing a hidden chest inside. You can access this chest once per character each week, granting five Spoils of Conquest each time you open it.

Vault Of Glass Solo Chest

For this chest, you'll need to use an out-of-bounds glitch to reach the chest. It's possible to solo the opening encounter of this raid, but this glitch makes this farm much faster. YouTuber Esoterickk's video showcases how this glitch works for all three classes. You can open this chest once per character each week, granting five Spoils of Conquest whenever opened.
