Last weekend, Trials of Osiris broke records for Destiny 2 with 750,000 players and over 2.8 million hours of Trials played. That's more hours played than at any other time in Destiny's seven-year history, and more players than Trials of Osiris has ever seen in Destiny 2.

There were a lot of Flawless runs (237,000, to be exact) and many first-time players, with some of them even reaching the Lighthouse.

But even with signs of massive success from the recent Trials rework, Bungie isn't celebrating just yet. There's still room for improvement, according to community manager Cozmo in Bungie's latest blog update, so next weekend will see two tweaks to the Trials of Osiris matchmaking system.

Bungie liked how many people were playing, but they noted that the skilled players were often sailing to the Lighthouse with multiple 5-0 stomps. To give those players a bit more of a challenge, Bungie is instituting a "Flawless matchmaking pool" after a player goes Flawless for the first time. This will make it more likely for Flawless players to play against one another and give more players a chance to go Flawless.

Matchmaking times will be monitored as this new pool goes live, and Bungie promised to ensure times don't get too long.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, some players were on the receiving end of repeated 0-5 losses. To help out, Bungie is giving those players a "temporary help mechanic." Presumably, this will match chronic losers against each other, but Bungie didn't provide all that many details. All they said was that the help mechanic goes away after a win and that the help mechanic can't be used to ensure a flawless run.

Quitter penalties are also coming to Trials. Quit your matches too often and you'll be hit with a 30-minute cooling-off period.

Next weekend will bring the first-ever Trials Labs and the all-new Capture Zone Trials. And be sure to check out the Season of the Lost calendar, which just got posted online yesterday.
