It won't be long until Detroit: Become Human is available to play on PC, as Quantic Dream has revealed that the game will be released on the Epic Games Store in December.
Quantic Dream was originally closely associated with Sony and the PlayStation brand. David Cage had directed three story-based games that started out as PlayStation exclusives, in the form of Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. Quantic Dream has broken off from Sony and is now open to working with other platforms, as it was revealed earlier this year that the David Cage trilogy would be making its way to PC as Epic Games Store exclusives.
Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls were made available on the Epic Games Store earlier this year and they will soon be joined by Detroit: Become Human. Quantic Dream has revealed on its YouTube channel that Detroit: Become Human will be available on the Epic Games Store on December 12.
Detroit: Become Human is an adventure game that is set in a society where realistic androids are available for the general public to purchase. The story follows the perspective of three different androids who are caught up in a struggle for the rights of sentient machines, which could potentially lead to a war between humanity and the robots. Detroit: Become Human received mostly positive reviews at launch and it won numerous awards following its release.
The loss of exclusivity for Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human was a blow to Sony and the PlayStation brand. There were some who were surprised that Sony didn't attempt to purchase Quantic Dream (in the same way that it bought Insomniac Games earlier this year), but it's possible that Quantic Dream wasn't interested in that arrangement. Quantic Dream is now self-publishing its games, but Epic has enough cash to keep the company's titles away from Steam and the home consoles for the foreseeable future.
Detroit: Become Human will be available in the Epic Games Store on December 12, 2019.
