The mysterious character V took the Devil May Cry fandom by storm when he was introduced as a playable character. Armed with his three familiars V enter battle, only getting close to his enemies when it's time to deal the final blow. While V is probably the most apathetic character in the series, he can hold his own in a fight for most of the game.

This made us think of some great anime match-ups that V would both win and lose. Below we take a look at anime characters from a variety of series that we would love to see the mysterious V fight.

9 Beat: Ash Ketchum

Ash Ketchum has monsters that he can command to battle just like V. The only problem is that Ash is one of the worst trainers we have never seen. Even with Pikachu, V would likely make short work at the trainer Pokémon. To make matters worse, we doubt Ash would be able to figure out why V's demon is able to respawn within a couple of minutes of being taken down. He's also perpetually ten years old, so his chances aren't great.

8 Lose: Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke Uchiha is another brooding character on our list who can control an entity to help him do battle. Sadly for V, Sasuke is smart enough to get up close and personal. V, once in close combat with an opponent, has little chance of surviving. We also wager that Sasuke's sword skills are much better than V's and that Sasuke has much more brute strength.

There is also the problem of the Sharingan eyes that could help Sasuke overcome any attempts V makes to fight back with his cane.

7 Beat: Light Yagami

Death Note is a series about a notebook that can kill people based on the owner just writing their full name. While light may have been able to figure out L's true name, we think he would have a bit of trouble figuring out who V is. As it turns out, V woke up with no memories and has no clue who he is or what is name is.

This case of amnesia would surely help V out in surveying, and, even if Misa used her shinigami eyes, we aren't certain they could give the pair a useful answer.

6 Lose: Subaru Natsuki

Subaru is an unconventional hero from a series that also has notable music who often has to use others to do his battles. His one power is to be able to return by death to a preset location. While we know V would easily be able to slay Subaru time and time again, the strings of fate would eventually help Subaru to realize that V himself is pretty vulnerable. With this knowledge in tow, the protagonist could certainly come up with a way to slay V.

Subaru also has an ability to cover the field in darkness, which would make sneaking up on V pretty easy.

5 Beat: Darkness

Darkness is a very eccentric girl with one huge flaw; she can't land a hit on anything. While Darkness can certainly take advantage, she isn't immortal. In a one on one fight with V, he would easily be able to take her down, and, even if she got close enough to cut him with her sword, she would miss. While the mix of personalities in the battle would be hilarious, we can't see a way for V to lose.

We do have a feeling, though, that, after attacking Darkness a few times, V would likely decide to walk away from the battle.

4 Lose: Krillin

We've already established that V has very little brute strength. In fact, he has so little that one of the Z Fighters' weakest members could easily take him down. Krillin is known as the strongest human on earth and possesses the ability to fly and teleport behind his opponents. While Krillin would be distracted by V's demons at first, he could wipe them out with no problem.

The fight would literally be a ticking time bomb to the moment when Krillin got up close and personal with V.

3 Beat: Yuuichirou Hyakuya

Seraph of the End is a show about a boy with demonic blood trained that is trained to fight vampires. Yuu is a skilled swordsman who would relish the option to take on V, and he has the ability to summon an ultimate form just like his adversary. Sadly, Yuu is generally not very skilled at controlling his second form when he is worked up.

He also wouldn't have the speed needed to get close to V before he used his devil trigger to summon Nightmare to crush Yuu.

2 Lose: Levi Ackerman

Levi may be human, but he is used to quickly maneuvering around monsters and getting close to his enemies. Both of these qualities are horrible for V, who needs to keep his distance from Levi. Once Levi maneuvers around Shadow and Griffin, it's highly likely that he would target V himself. The razor-sharp blades Levi carries would also be more than enough to take V down.

Even Nightmare would be rather useless, as he seems to be less powerful than the titan Levi has already faced. Levi is just to fast for V to beat.

1 Beat: Tomura Shigaraki

Tomura is one of the main bad guys from My Hero Academia. Like most characters in the show, he has a quirk that can be deadly when used correctly. Sadly, this deadly quirk would be mostly useless in a fight against V. Tomura has the ability to decay anything that he touches with his hands. While this would be powerful against V, we don't think shadow or Griffon would let it happen.

Tomura is essentially useless without his team against a fight like V and would likely be dealt with in a matter of minutes.
