New details about the graphical options in Devil May Cry 5: Special Editon on Xbox systems have been revealed, and the Series S version of the game won't support ray tracing.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is an enhanced version of the original title for next-gen systems. In terms of content, the game will add Vergil as a playable character, though he is also being added to the existing version of Devil May Cry 5 for free via an update. The Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is adding a new difficulty option, in the form of Legendary Dark Knight Mode, as well as a faster experience with Turbo Mode. Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition has been altered to accommodate for next-gen hardware, which means the game will look better and will run faster.

The different graphical options for Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition were recently revealed, but it seems they won't be present on all systems. According to an update on the official Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition Twitter page, the Xbox Series S version of the game will not support ray tracing. This feature will be available on Xbox Series X, however, added via a downloadable update.

The official Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition website has examples of ray tracing effects in the game with a visual slider. The realistic lighting effects of ray tracing creates more impressive reflections and shadows. These effects are going to be harder to appreciate in a fast-paced/flashy game like Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, so its absence in the Xbox Series S version isn't too much of a loss.

The Xbox Series S is the weaker of the two systems when it comes to hardware, but it has a much cheaper price point. As such, it's the perfect next-gen system for fans on a budget, especially with the limited amount of PS5/Xbox Series X systems available at launch. The lack of ray tracing in Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is annoying, but it's something that Xbox Series S fans will have to get used to until they decide to upgrade.
