Dante from Devil May Cry is one of the most stylish gaming protagonists ever to exist, and there is no doubt that he is extremely powerful. Dante is the son of Sparda, the former demon emperor who single-handedly took down the powerful Mundas and his demon armies.
In the games, Dante has accidents to an arsenal of weapons, including a motorcycle that can turn into a chainsaw sword. This makes him a tough enemy to beat as his guns Ebony and Ivory can pick off enemies from afar while his sword Rebellion can help in close-quarters battles. It's pretty hard to find anime characters other than Goku who could beat Dante, but there are some. Below are five anime characters who could possibly defeat Dante and five fan favorites that wouldn't do so hot in a fight with the son of Sparda.
10 Win: Lelouch vi Britannia
Leloucheis the genus strategist from the anime Code Geass. His achievements range from piloting robots, turning a war, becoming emperor of the world, and killing God. On the outside, it may not look like this lanky schoolboy could take on Dante, but Lelouch has two very powerful traits that would have Dante beat in a matter of seconds.
For starters, Lelouch is immortal, and even if Dante Killed him, he would just get back up. Second, he has the power of Geass, upon looking into Dante's eyes, he could command him to perform any action he wishes, including losing in battle.
9 Lose: Eren Yeager
Eren Yager is the main protagonist from Attack on Titan, an anime that skyrocketed into popularity. As the series has gone on, Eren has achieved more and more power. Of course, when Eren is in his human form, he would easily lose to Dante quite quickly. His titan form, however, would allow Eren to hang on for just a bit longer.
Sadly, all Dante would have to do is cut the back of Eren's neck, and their duel would be over. Dante is no stranger to huge monsters who would like to use him for a snack; Eren is just another obstacle in his path.
8 Win: Rimuru Tempest
Rimuru Tempest is a newer anime character from the recent hit, The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. In the anime, he comes back as a slime that can absorb the powers of everything he consumes. On top of that, he is linked to a mysterious sage who can analyze everything around him. Rimuru has a ton of abilities that eventually make him the strongest character in the world.
No matter how Dante tried to cut him, Rimuru would just pull himself back together. Swords and guns do no damage to Rimuru, and before long, he would end up absorbing Dante.
7 Lose: Rem
Rem is the beloved demon from Re: Zero Starting Life in Another World. This Oni is pretty powerful and gives the main protagonist plenty of trouble early on. She has a second form where she can grow a horn and wield a spike ball and chain. Sadly, even with how determined Rem is, she wouldn't stand much of a chance against Dante.
Rem doesn't have skin made of diamonds and is extremely susceptible to both bullets and swords. Dante is also far faster than Rem and has much more battle experience than the young girl.
6 Win: Lord Beerus
It would be pretty fun to watch Dante's reaction to having to fight a humanoid cat God. It would also be pretty fun to see just how much effort Beerus is willing to use in the fight. Beerus, on several occasions, has given Goku and the rest of the Z Fighters plenty of trouble. He is the God of Destruction and has little trouble showing off his power in the series.
While Dante would probably be cocky at the beginning of the battle, things would soon switch around when Lord Beerus actually decided to put in some effort.
5 Lose: Ken Kaneki
In Tokyo Ghoul Ken Kaneki grew quickly as a person after being turned into a half-ghoul hybrid. Through the series, he learned to accept himself and started to master his new powers. Ghouls, in general, are a pretty terrifying bunch, but Kaneki has beaten some of the top-ranked villains of the series time and time again.
Even with all of Kaneki's combat expertise, it isn't likely he could beat Dante. While Kaneki could probably hold off on being defeated right away, Dante's ranged weapons and quick wits would eventually overtake him.
4 Win: Madoka Kaname
Madoka Kaname is one of the protagonists of Madoka Magica. The young girl doesn't initially start off powerful, but because of a wish made by Homura Akemi, Madoka's survival directly affects the progression of time. By the end of the series, Madoka has amassed so much power that she becomes God and rewrites the universe.
Even if Dante was somehow able to kill Madoka, time would just start over again, and his memories would be wiped. The two would keep clashing in battle until Madoka is strong enough to defeat him.
3 Lose: Inuyasha
Inuyasha is a half-demon from the series of the same name. Inuyasha armed with his sword Tessaiga has cut down some of the most powerful demons Feudal Japan has ever known. He has enhanced speed, endurance, and healing abilities. If he ascends to his full demon form, these are only enhanced, and he can slice enemies in half with just his claws.
Sadly, when Inuyasha is in his demon form, he is chaotic, and when he's not, he won't heal fast enough to take bullets from Dante's guns. Even if he could avoid most of the shots, it's still likely Dante would eventually get a hit in.
2 Win: Aqua
Aqua is another newcomer in the anime world from the show Konosuba. She is a powerful Goddess who works to purify anything that's impure. Given that Dante is a demon, her attacks would be especially effective against him. Aqua also has the added ability to be able to summon a flood and purify anything she touches.
Best of all, as long as people believe in the Goddess, she will still exist, making her pretty much immortal. The only way Dante could win against Aqua is to convince every realm in existence that she isn't real.
1 Lose: Light Yagami
A lot of people assume that Light Yagami from Death Note could just write down Dante's name and win. The truth is, the game never states what Dante's full name is. It's also highly likely that Kira would assume Dante's alias is actually Tony Redgrave. There is also the problem of most of Light's killing methods not really working on a Dante.
Going on how little Light seems to actually understand about anything outside of the human realm, there is a high chance Dante would win the battle in mere seconds.
