On its official Twitter page, Digimon Games has announced that Digimon Survive, which was finally due to be released in January 2021, has once again been delayed until next spring at least. The survival strategy RPG developed by Witchcraft and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment was first delayed on July 6, 2019.
Now, the company says the game had been delayed again to further review the game system. The game’s producer Habu Kazumasa says that current world events, understood as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, have shifted the timing of the development and that updates on the game will be revealed in the spring of 2021.

According to the Bandai Namco website, the game celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the Digimon Anime and introduces a new adventure set in a mysterious world with characters designed by Uichi Ukumo, and music composed by Tomoki Miyoshi.
Digimon Survive will follow a group of teenagers, led by Takuma Momozuka, who become stranded on a school camping trip and are transported to a new world in which they’ll encounter a variety of monsters and untold danger.
As the teens fight to return home, player choices will decide the development of their monster allies and the outcome of the story. In the game, battles are fought in a 2D, classic SRPG style. The developers promise striking anime-style graphics, a dark tale of survival and friendship, and tactical RPGs combats with over 100 Digimon.
Bandai Namco Entertainment, the third-largest video game publisher in Japan and the seventh in the world, owns several video game franchises, including Gundam, Pac-Man, Tekken, Soulcalibur, Tales, Ace Combat, Taiko no Tatsujin, The Idolmaster and Dark Souls. Its last Digimon release was Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory for PS4 and PlayStation Vita in 2017.
Digimon Survive is expected to be released in North America on several platforms, including PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PCs via Steam in 2021 as well as the Xbox Series X and PS5. We'll keep you posted on further updates.
